1. How do manufacturing skills work?

To practice manufacturing skills and make items, you will have to work inside a
player owned stall. The owner will usually charge an hourly fee. Refer to 2. for
further info.
A. MANUFACTURING SKILLS THAT DO NOT REQUIRE BLUEPRINTS (Blacksmithing, Bowmaking
, Brewing, Potionmaking, Tailoring and Weaving):
How do they work?
Manufacturing skills can be trained in two ways: passively and actively. You wil
l get a determined amount of experience per day (depending on your attributes),
but you can also level manufacturing skills through quests and through making ne
w items.
Example Blacksmithing: (max level is 99)
- You start at level 1 blacksmith.
- You then start a quest to learn how make a 'bronze sword'.
- After you've finished it, you will get the quest rewards and will win the abil
ity to make bronze swords.
- From then on, you will get a declining amount of blacksmithing experience for
each successive bronze sword you make.
- After a certain number of bronze swords, you won't get any more experience, an
d will have to move on to more advanced stuff (eg: iron swords).
- Also keep in mind each quest has its own level requirement. Don't feel bad if
you haven't got enough level to begin a quest. Work hard and you will get strong
er quicker than you can blink your eye!
- Your items *might* get attribute bonuses if you make them faster. Refer to the
game documentation for the full list of bonuses.
B. STALL SKILLS THAT REQUIRE BLUEPRINTS (Apothecary, Carpentry, Shipwrighting)
How do they work?
Full Comprehensive Example (simplest ship)
Skill: Shipwrighting
Ship: Cog
(Ships: Pieces -> Parts -> Ship)
I. Making Ship PIECES:
No Blueprint is required for this step.
- You start at level 1 shipwrighting.
- You then start a quest to learn how to make a ship piece (example: Cog Chassis
). The chassis is basically the 'skeleton' of the ship.
- After you've finished it, you'll gain the ability to make this specific piece
(in our example, the Cog Chassis).
- From then on, you will get a declining amount of shipwrighting experience for
each successive Chassis you make.
- After a certain number of pieces made, you won't get any more shipwrighting ex
perience and will have to move on to more advanced stuff.
II. Making Ship PARTS:
To do this step, you will need a 'Cog Hull Plant'. A ship hull is basically the
ship minus the mast+sail. You will also need a cog chassis.
- Drop the Cog Chassis from your inventory to the ground (will display a huge Co
g Chassis on the ground).
- Use Planks with the Cog Chassis to slowly build the Hull. It will take a while
but you will slowly see the Chassis on the ground being enclosed by the planks.
It will read 'Cog Hull 0-100%'
- After you're done, you will get a 'Cog Hull' in your inventory.
III. Putting the Ship together:
To finish this step, you will need a 'Full Cog Plant'. You will also need a 'Cog
Hull' and a 'Cog Mast+Sail'.
-Simply use the pieces with one another, and you will get the Full Cog. You won'
t get the ship in your inventory, you will get the deed. A deed is a certificate
that says your ship is ready to be used at the nearest marina.
-Once ships have been put together, they cannot be disassembled.
Note: Apothecary Stall items and Furnisher Stall items will work exactly the sam
e way.
Note2: Your ship parts might get attribute bonuses if you make them faster. (Exa
mple: 'Good' Cog Hull. 'Poor' Cog Hull.) Refer to the game documentation for fur
ther info.
Note3: You can only put a 'Good Cog' together using 'Good' Cog Parts (or better)
. Only then will your ship will get the 'Good' attribute bonuses. If you try to
use a 'Good' Cog Hull with a 'Poor' Mast+Sail, you will get a 'Poor' Cog. You wi
ll actually get a warning first (which can be disabled).
2. How do stalls work?
A. Manufacturing Stalls (Apothecaries, Blacksmiths, Bowyers, Distilleries, Herbs
and Potions, Furnishers, Shipyards, Tailors, Weaveries)
- To train a determined manufacturing skill, you will have to use a player-owned
stall.
- Manufacturing stalls will usually require you to pay a fee to be used, to be d
etermined by the stall's owner.
- As the owner, you can set how much you're gonna charge per hour for each playe
r. There is no limit, you can charge from zero up to infinity. This can be chang
ed every 6 hours.
- The fee can be turned off at any time (for selected players, such as friends a
nd clanmates, or altogether for everyone).
- Noticed you can be banned by the owner or his shopkeepers for misbehaving insi
de a stall. Stalls can also be set to 'unlisted' and 'private'. You can still bu
y from a stall even if you've been banned from it. Unlisted and private stalls w
ill not display their goods on the marketplace.
B. Selling Stalls
- To buy/sell stalls, you can choose to go through a banking stall to process yo
ur order (they will basically find a buyer for you). They will usually require y
ou to pay a seller's fee.
- Banking stalls can choose how much they're going to charge PER SALE (also call
ed their 'cut'). Their cut is pre-defined and can only be altered every 72 hours
.
- Bankers will usually strive to find you the best deals (haha riight) but don't
worry: they can only sell your shit once you've approved it. As a seller you wi
ll get a notice once a buyer has been found and a sale needs to be confirmed. Bo
th buyers and sellers are asked to confirm a sale within a period of 48 hours. O
nce you press 'confirm', the money will be automatically deposited in your walle
t and the banker will get his cut (and the buyer gets the item).
- You can only become a certified banker (being able to operate and own stalls)
after completing the "A Banker's Apprentice" journal (list of quests).
- You can also choose to auto-confirm sales for trusted banking stalls if you wa
nt (this option will appear in the advanced menu).
Note: As a customer, you can place a review on any transaction on any stall at a
ny time (private or not, whether you're banned from it or not) after having had
your order (be it a ship order, a stall sale or a sword) processed by them. This
information will automatically be made public, although stall owners might choo
se to disable the review function at any time (can only be changed once every 14
days). Notice this will not clean their record.
As a rule, be wary of stalls with the review function disabled, as they are usua
lly out to scam your ass (specially the banking stalls, which willcharge a fee r
egardless of whether the sale is completed or not, called 'administrative fee').
They can still be legit though, as they might have fallen victim to predatory r
eviewing by their competitors but, as a rule, beware.
