Light Up Rotary
Dear Colleagues,
DDGs, AGs, District Team Members, Presidents, Secretaries and fellow Rotarians from all over our unique District 2452.
Greetings from the Kingdom of Bahrain!!
As I stand at the beginning of the new Rotary Year 2014-2015, I see ahead of me a horizon, full of great opportunities, great chal-
lenges and great responsibilities.
We are all Rotarians, therefore our dedications and commitments towards Rotarys values and principles are the same. Hence at this
hour I would like to ask you all to accompany and support me through a journey that is full of challenges and responsibilities.
Embarking on a journey of such tremendous responsibility, I welcome you all on board,to share our hope and enthusiasm, because
this journey needs a coordinated effort of intensity and strength, requiring the support and participation of every Rotarian of District
2452.
District 2452 is an integral part of the global Rotary and they share our successes and take pride in our achievements as we all to-
gether work towards spreading friendship and peace all over the globe.
I see the potential for this year to be extremely fruitful once we put all of our thoughts and efforts into planning for what needs to be
done. And I trust that you all will move ahead united, sharing ideas and suggestions with mutual respect and friendship, enjoying
every moment in true Rotary spirit.
The District Team leaders and Club leaders must by now have formulated plans and strategies for the year which will undoubtedly
focus on rendering the best possible service to the community. In doing so, we will have to get all the members of our club together,
working as one team towards the common goal of being at the service of the society.
By way of promoting Service Above Self, let us take our Clubs and District to a new level and further enhance the image of Rota-
ry in our District and throughout the world.
Finally, I take this opportunity to congratulate you for the new Rotary Year 2014-15 and wish you all success.
In the following pages you will see some of the preparations that myself, in my capacity as Governor Elect, and my core team have
initiated for setting up the stage for the success of the forthcoming Rotary Year 2014-2015
I look forward to work closely with you all for the betterment of our community and communities beyond.
Welcome to the New Rotary Year. May God Bless Us.

2014 ROTARY CONVENTION ENDS WITH THE PASSING OF THE TORCH
Members of Burtons Rotary Club of Norman, Oklahoma,
United States, and RI President-elect Gary C.K. Huangs
club of Taipei, Taiwan, took the stage to exchange club
banners, a tradition that unofficially marks a changing of
the guard.
Huang will become Rotary International president on 1
July. During his term in office, he has set a goal of grow-
ing Rotarys membership to 1.3 million. Huang told the
audience that increasing and sustaining membership will
help Rotary achieve its goals. He shared a story about a
small Taiwanese club that had only six members. But after
asking their wives to join, the club grew to 29 members in
three years because the spouses asked their friends to be-
come members as well.
"I want to remind everyone that sometimes getting a new
member is as easy as asking," said Huang, whose wife,
Corinna, became a member in July. "It made perfect sense.
She was a great match for Rotary. Corinna enjoyed it so
much that our three children joined Rotary as well. They
have been around Rotary their whole lives. They did not
need to be convinced. It was a natural step for them," said
Huang.
Huang, whose Presidential Theme for 2014-15 is Light Up
Rotary, also encouraged members to conduct Rotary Days
throughout the year to help the community become more
familiar with Rotarys work.
"It can be a day to educate your community about polio, it
can be a service project, or a celebration. Just make sure to
invite the public, your families, and friends," he said.
"Show your community what you do, both locally and
internationally. Make sure your community knows that
Rotary is there, that Rotary is active, Rotary is fun, and it
is doing good work."
Huang gave attendees three words to guide them this year:
hand, head, and heart. "Use your hand to help, use your
head to make sure you are helping in the right place, and
use your heart to make it sincere. Without your heart,
nothing else matters."
