Terry Diane Boozer was born January 5, 1954 in Washington, DC; the second-born daughter to Archield and Blanche Twyman. Terry peacefully departed this life on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at the Mandrin Inpatient Care Center in Harwood, MD.

Terry was educated in the public schools of the District of Columbia. She graduated from Calvin Coolidge High School in 1972. Terry furthered her education at Boston College and American University, receiving a Masters in Social Work.

Terry started her Federal career in 1971 as a student hire in the Office of Human Resources at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. After college, she then went on to work as a Probation Officer with the DC Superior Courts. She retired in April 2004 from the Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency (CSOSA). Two years after retirement, Terry returned to CSOSA as a contractor with her best friend, Joyce Dasher, working as a Domestic Violence counselor. They received many outstanding achievement awards over several years. In 2013, Terry decided to

retire for good as it became too difficult to keep up the demands of her job while undergoing cancer treatment.

Terry married in 1977 and was married for 12 years. She raised a set of twins, Michael and Kimberly Boozer. She was a very loving, giving, and devoted mother.

Terry was accepted into Christ and was baptized and raised at Second New St. Paul Baptist Church in Washington, DC. In 1999, Terry joined the Israel Metropolitan CME Church in Washington, DC. She served as a member of the Ruby Bell Missionary Circle.

Terry loved to travel with her entourage of friends Joyce, Fannie, Pat, Maria, Yvonne, Carol and many others (friends of friends) who came along way. Over the years, they traveled to the Dominican Republic, Aruba, Cancun, Hawaii, Greece, Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, Morocco, Turkey, Japan, Dubai, Egypt, and the French Riviera. She also loved cruising on boats and fishing.

Terry was preceded in death by one sister; Gail Elston. She leaves many cherished memories to her mother and father, Blanche and Archield Twyman of Upper Marlboro, MD; one son, Michael Boozer of Phoenix, AZ; one daughter, Kimberly Boozer McDermott (Kevin) of Laurel, MD; one brother, Gary Twyman, Sr. (Canzada) of Atlanta, GA; one sister, Victoria Hodge (Randy) of Fairfax, VA; her best friend, Joyce Dasher of Bowie, MD; six grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Terry,
Terry,

I’ll always remember you as “a bundle of joy”! You were the best baby, adolescent, and young adult anyone could have ever dreamt of raising. You were an obedient and happy child.

It was a joy to watch you grow to become the most loving, caring and kind daughter. We saw you grow physically and spiritually into a strong and courageous woman.

You were there for your Dad and me at every beck and call. Even during your own illness, you would ask, “Why didn’t you call me?” I could not help but admire your strength as you fought your battle. You shared your wisdom and continued to give us all advice till the end.

Terry, you were a priceless jewel and we thank God for the gift of YOU!
