A truly comprehensive institution, Universit de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines

(UVSQ) offers more than 200 programs adapted to the major challenges of the 21st
century through its 10 divisions: 4 teaching and research faculties (sciences, social
sciences, law and political science, and health sciences); 2 institutes for research
and education (cultural and international studies; management); 2 university insti-
tutes of technology (IUT); 1 space sciences observatory; and 1 school of engineering
(ISTY).

UVSQ offers 54 different general and professional licence degrees, some of which

masters programs. Its close ties with its region (companies and local governments)

research masters degrees (including degrees in education). 14 star programs are
nationally renowned.

Research
Universit de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines trains new PhDs in three years of
study and research after earning a research master. Doctoral candidates join of the
universitys six doctoral departments and work under the supervision of a disserta-
tion adviser.

Strengths
Universit de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines is a comprehensive institution
offering more than 250 degree programs and enrolling 19,600 students.
UVSQ is a founding member of the new Universit Paris-Saclay (UPSay), an interna-
tionally prominent campus on which grandes coles (Polytechnique, HEC, Centrale
Paris) and universities (UVSQ, Paris Sud-11) combine synergistically.
UVSQ is recognized for the research performed in its 34 laboratories.
UVSQ promotes interdisciplinarity both in its research activities (e.g., through the
institute of criminology, epidemiological cohorts, materials research, and studies of
health and environment) and in doctoral training.
UVSQ has developed prominent partnerships of international scope (150 bilateral
agreements, 120 university partners, joint- and dual-degree programs, distance-
learning programs, and projects with large industrial groups such as Thales Alenia
Space, Bouygues, and Alstom). Its work also leads it to engage in technology trans-
fer and technological innovation.
UVSQ expands its international exposure through the internationalization of its pro-
grams (language requirements), the admission of international students, and the
promotion of student mobility.

Lying west of Paris in the Yvelines department, Universit de Versailles Saint-Quen-
tin-en-Yvelines offers programs in 5 urban centers: Versailles, Saint-Quentin-en-
Yvelines, Vlizy-Villacoublay, Rambouillet, and Mantes-la-Ville. An essential econo-
