Evaluation Methodology for 802.16p
1. Introduction
The objective of this evaluation methodology is to define link-level and system-level simulation
models and associated parameters that shall be used in the evaluation and comparison of technology
proposals for IEEE 82!1"p! #roponents of any technology proposal using this methodology shall
follo$ the evaluation methods defined in this document and report the results using the metrics
defined in this document! The current te%t in this documents for do$nlink and uplink simulation
assumptions are templates that may be e%tended for a complete description!
2. Test Scenarios
The typical testing seneario for 1"p is given in &ig2-1 in $hich only single cell modeling is considered!
;igure1<-1 The t,pcial te#t #ce'ario -or 16p
3. Traffic Models
This section describes traffic models in detail! ' major objective of system simulations is to provide an
operator $ith a vie$ of the ma%imum number of active users that can be supported for a given
service under a specified configuration at a given coverage level!

The generic proportional fair scheduler specified in =3> is used for allocation of the resources!
&urthmore<in order to support large volume of 323 devices $ith lo$ po$er transmission< group-
based resource scheduling should be considered< e!g! the '25 can allocate the specific channel
resource to a group of 323 devices to transmit and receive packets!

The implementation of an idle state is proposed to be used in the IEEE 82!1"m and 1"p broadband
$ireless system to conserve battery po$er of mobile devices $hen a call session is not active! '
