The talk will introduce participants to the concept and practice of Kaizen Event, which is commonly practiced by lean practitioners and the lean community at large, for implementing lean.

The participants will gain a basic understanding and knowledge of what’s involved in conducting a Kaizen Event and how to implement it effectively in an organization.

Often, people are trained in lean tools but are unfamiliar on how or where to start. They struggle with lean tools application and its appropriateness in a given process scenario.

We read and hear of organizations that have embraced lean and have achieved dramatic business results. It is often achieved by this Kaizen Event methodology of introducing and implementing lean.

This understanding and appreciation of Kaizen Event will come in handy for those who are looking into improving their business processes especially in areas pertaining to cycle time, inventory management, increasing speed to customer response, non-value added reduction challenges and issues on efficiency.

Mr. Thomas Chew is a Senior Consultant with Onesiphorus Pte Ltd. He has been practicing and implementing Lean Six Sigma in organizations for about 8 years. He was trained in Japan by Shingijutsu Co. Ltd and understudied various Japanese consultants over a period of two years. He later trained as a Lean Master in US by Honeywell.

Over the years, he has trained, coached and mentored over 100 project teams around Asia. Often in leading and coaching these teams, he also has to be an effective change agent for successful implementation. He has trained Green Belts, Black Belts and Lean Experts.

His work includes companies such as ST Kinetics Group of companies, Honeywell (Asia Pacific), GE Lightings, OCBC, Ingram Micro, Siam City Bank, Carlson Wagonlit, Bossard, Bank Negara Indonesia, Eastman and others.
