Jerteh, Terengganu

Dear Akiro,
Thank you for your interesting letter. I enjoyed reading about your great
grandfather who was a Japanese warrior. I would like to see his great sword if I
ever visit Japan.
In your letter, you asked me to tell you about my family and relatives.
The best way to do that is to send you a photograph. You can see over a hundred
relatives of mine. Wow! You would say.
Let me start with my grandfather and grandmother. They have twelve
children. Seven of them are sons. Each of them has ten children of their own. So
most of the people in the photographs are my uncles, aunts and my cousins.
Eight of my cousins are married and have several children. Their children look like
me, with round faces, flat noses, big ears and high cheeks.
The photograph was taken at a kenduri (feast) on my grandfathers
ninety-fifth birthday. He does not carry a great sword like your great grandfather.
He holds only a walking-stick which we call tongkat. Can you find me in the
photograph? You might want to use a magnifying glass. Bye and best regards to
you and your family.
Yours sincerely,
Fauzi

small fire. Another fireman showed us how to operate a fire extinguisher.

The members of the Handicraft Club visited the childrens ward in
the hospital this afternoon. We brought along toys and gifts. Some of the
children sat in wheelchairs. A few of them walked with crutches. But they
were excited and cheerful during our visit. They enjoyed playing games with
us.
28 April 2007
I went to the market with my mother. I pushed the trolley. I read
from the shopping list and counted the money. I also chose and picked the
fish, fruits and vegetables. My mother only bargained with the sellers. We
returned home at 10.00 a.m. My mother said to my father, I feel very tired
after shopping in the market. I should be the one saying that!
