Chairs Report

June 2014
To all our members,
I submit to you a short review of our activities and events since our October 2013 General
Meeting.

On March second of this year we held our fund raising Winter BBQ. More than 300 visitors came
to support our association. This years activity included a professional nail clipping service and
free dog training consultations. I would like to thank all the volunteers who gave their time and
energy before and during this activity. Thank you also to our sponsors (Metro Plus, Martin St-
Denis, city of Gatineau) for their greatly appreciated contributions.
On April 12th some 30 volunteers took part in our Spring clean-up activity at the Jardins-Lavigne
park. On behalf of all I extend my sincerest gratitude for their involvement and hard work!
At the end of April, for the benefit of our members and non-members a work-shop entitled
Become more interesting than squirrels was graciously given by Mr. Daniel Sterl (dog behaviour
specialist) at the Jardins-Lavigne park. This event was, I believe, well appreciated by its many
participants.
19 janvier
On January 19th, the Jardins-Lavigne dog park starred as the most lively and enjoyable dog park
in Canada at least according to Daniel Latour, host of Radio-Canadas televized sery Quelle
histoire. Thanks to all those who turned out for the shooting of this reportage!
From October to December, we invited local businesses, entrepreneurs and professionals to
sponsor our activities and, in so doing so, become major partners with our association.
Needless to say that their financial contribution will enable us to pursue our goals and for that
we are very grateful. Our partners: Sylvain Gagnon (Reemax real estate); Marie-Noelle Denis
(MacTuriff dog beds); Nathalie Sguin (Luxor carwash); Jocelyn Joanis (Invisible Fence); Joey
Vaillancourt and Natasha Fry (Destiny Kennels); Gilles Rochon (Mtro Plus) and the city of
Gatineau. Consult our web site for more information concerning our partners.
You will also find on our web site a directory of local businesses who cater to dogs and dog
owners needs. Contributions for their advertisement is part of our fund raising activities and is
very much appreciated.
Finally, weve added to our website a section devoted to our dogs. You will find, under the
heading Members photos of many of our canine members. We invite you to submit a photo of
your dog (if you havent done so already). Please send to club.canin.aylmer@hotmail.ca .

Dog exercise area Paul-Pelletier park
Construction of the enclosed dog exercise area located behind the Centre aquatique Paul-
Pelletier will soon be completed (we hope by the end of July this year). Needless to remind you_
that this dog park project is the initial and the official ongoing cause of our association. A most
likely final version of the joint agreement between the Aylmer Canine Club and the city of
Gatineau has just been submitted for approval to our board of directors.

Membership
Since our last General meeting more than 100 new dog owners joined our Club. Our total
membership count is at 585 humans and 674 dogs!
Last, but not least, I thank all our members who support our association and, in doing so,
directly contribute to the well-being of our dogs.

Andr Lemay, president
Aylmer Canine Club Club
