1.1 OVERVIEW

This document is intended to provide installation guidelines and requirements of Bentley Systems Design and Engineering
Collaboration environment known as ProjectWise V8i. After the installation of this client software the user will be able to:

Upload Drawing files and documents into the system
Check out and check in drawing files and documents for review
Via server administration notify users of changes or new additions of files to system

ProjectWise is an engineering project team collaboration system which is used to help teams improve quality, reduce
rework, and meet project deadlines. Benefits include:

Save time finding, validating and accessing project information
Reduce project risk with a single source of truth for all project information
Improve quality and consistency of all project deliverables
Maximize workforce utilization and share work across multiple offices

1.2 OBTAINING THE BENTLEY PROJECTWISE EXPLORER APPLICATION

Crawford, Murphy & Tilly, Inc. is currently using ProjectWise (Select Series 4) version 08.11.11.567. This version supports
other ProjectWise versions however; it is recommended that ProjectWise version 08.11.07.567 is used when connecting to
CMTs ProjectWise Design and Engineering Collaboration environment.

ProjectWise Explorer version 08.11.11.567 can be downloaded from the Bentley Systems website or you can contact CMTs
Help Desk at HelpDesk@cmtengr.com and request the ProjectWise Explorer application.

Please read and understand this document before installing or upgrading your ProjectWise Explorer software.

1.3 INSTALLING THE BENTLEY PROJECTWISE EXPLORER APPLICATION

Note: When installing the ProjectWise Explorer Application the user account must have local Administrator permissions

Now that you have downloaded and extracted the Bentley ProjectWise Explorer installation files Double click on the file
named Setup.exe or select the file and press enter.

Click the INSTALL button for the ProjectWise Prerequisite Runtimes.

Click the Next button to continue then read the License agreement and click the radio button
I accept the terms in the license agreement and then click the Next button to continue.



Click the INSTALL button to continue with the installation and FINISH when it is all complete



Click the INSTALL button for the ProjectWise Explorer.

Click the Next button to continue then read the License agreement and click the radio button
I accept the terms in the license agreement and then click the Next button to continue.



Verify that the Custom radio button is selected and then click the Next button to continue.

By default Bentley includes the Desktop Integration component for ProjectWise Explorer. Please note that this component
for use with CMTs ProjectWise environment is optional and you choose to install component or not as needed. If you
change your mind you can modify your installation of this component from the Programs applet in the control panel at any
time.

Click the Next button to continue.



Click the INSTALL button to continue with the installation and FINISH when it is all complete

1.4 CONFIGURING PROJECTWISE EXPLORER APPLICATION FOR USE
WITH CMTS PROJECTWISE ENVIRONMENT.

From the Windows Menu select START, CONTROL PANEL and search for the ProjectWise V8i Network applet.



On the GENERAL tab place a check box in the Prevent UDP for DNS and Listing and press Apply.
(This setting is optional but recommended as it will reduce the amount of broadcast data packets)



From the DNS Services Tab and enter the Server Name (cmtpwgate); Hostname (cmtpwgate.cmtengr.com) and leave the
Port information empty as shown in the screen shot below. Next click the Add button.



From the Datasource Listing Tab and enter the Server Name (cmtpwgate); Hostname (cmtpwgate.cmtengr.com) and leave
the Port information empty as shown in the screen shot below. Next click the Add button.

2.1 STARTING THE PROJECTWISE EXPLORER APPLICATION

From the Windows START Menu select, All Programs, Bentley, ProjectWise V8i, and ProjectWise Explorer.



After the ProjectWise Application opens verify that the CMT Projects.

2.2 LOGGING INTO CMT PROJECTS DATASOURCE

There are several ways to log into the ProjectWise Datasource. You can click the + (Plus) beside the CMT Projects
datasource, or Double click on it, or you can select Datasource from the top menu bar and then select Log in. Each of
these actions will present you with the ProjectWise Explorer Log in Dialog.

Enter the username and password you have been provided and click the Log in Button



If this is the first time you have logged into the ProjectWise datasource you will receive the following prompt.

Click OK to continue.

You will then be able to browse the ProjectWise Datasource as displayed in the example below.

2.2 CHANGE PASSWORD

While logged into the ProjectWise Explorer program from the Tools pull-down menu select Options. Type your old (current)
password and the new password, next click OK.

2.4 RIGHT-CLICK CONTEXT MENU
In Project Wise Explorer you can right click on document(s) to select from a number of different options that can be
performed on that document(s). The illustration below shows the many options along with the description of each option.
> Use to create a new version of a document

> Checks out documents for editing (same as double-click)
> Use for viewing or printing
> Use if need to open document with a specific application
> Opens document as read-only using the associated application

> Use to download and locks document for editing
> Unlocks file for editing and uploads your changes to server
> Undoes check out or export. Your changes are undone
> Downloads copy to your working directory. Unmanaged copy.
> Used to markup DGN or DWG documents. Bentley Redline is needed
> Checks out file to a user-specified folder on local PC or local network. Should only be
used if file needs to be worked on away from Hanson network
> Imports the Exported file
> Updates changes in ProjectWise, leaves document checked out
> Overwrites local working copy with server version
> Removes local working copy
> Removes the ProjectWise managed CAD Workspace
> Move documents from one folder to another
> Create copies of documents in current folder or another folder
> Use this command after selecting copy
> Used to copy documents. Brings up dialog to select destination folder
> Used to move documents. Brings up dialog to select destination folder
> Used to rename a document. This should never be used.
> Deletes a selected document
> Used to change the value of a selected attribute simultaneously in multiple
documents
> Used to change the coordinate system of a spatial location for documents
> Provides the ability to add a comment to a document. Adds to the audit trail
> Shows reference information
> Send to a printer or to an e-mail recipient
> Copies a list of documents to the Windows clipboard
> Used to copy and paste environment attributes between files
> Use for workflow. Changes states of documents in workflow
> Allows you to see all the file properties, including audit trail. This can also be
accomplished by selecting the document and the pressing the spacebar
> Used to Batch Print MicroStation and AutoCAD files
