ACADEMIC YEAR: 2012-2013

ELECTRICAL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS
CLASS : IV B.TECH-I SEM
NAME OF THE STAFF MEMBER: Mrs K.LALITHA, Asst.Prof., EEE
IMPORTANCE OF DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS:
Distribution system is one part of the Electric Power system. It is very near to the customers
compared to the generation and transmission systems. Therefore distribution system planning
starts at the consumer level.System planning is essential to assure the growing demand for
electricity which is both technically adeuate and reasonably economic. The ob!ective of the
distribution system planning is to assure the growing demand for electricity,in terms of
increasing growth rates and high load densities in an optimum way and reasonably economical.

OBECTIVES OF ELECTRICAL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS:
The ob!ective is to guide the students about the distribution system which is the part of an
Electrical Power System and is the most important from the customer point of view. The proper
planning of distribution system ensures reliable and economic power.
