Odin is a very useful Windows tool that lets you install / flash ROM on your Android device.

Here is a
step by step guide on how to use Odin to flash stock ROM on your Android smartphone / tablet.

How to nstall ROM !.tar.md"# using Odin
$efore you $egin%
&ake care of following%

nstall '($ drivers for your device on your )*. +ou can download and install(amsung
,ies which will automatically install device drivers.
$e sure to backup your data including *ontacts- (M( / MM(- A). / MM( (ettings as well as
photos and videos stored on your device0s internal or e1ternal storage.
Make sure that your device is well charged. deally- the battery level should be around 234536.
&he more the better.
'($ 7ebugging should be enabled on your device.
Make sure that (amsung ,ies is not running.
.ote:nstalling official firmware / stock ROM does not involve much risks most of the time. However-
try this at your own risk. We will not be responsible for any hard done to your device.

7ownload the official firmware 8ip package for your device. &hen e1tract the downloaded 8ip
file. After e1tracting- you will either get one .tar / .tar.md" file or will get multiple files.
f you get one file- it will have everything inside it% )7A 9 )hone 9 *(*.
f you get multiple files- there will be separate files for )7A- )hone / *(*.
7ownload Odin:;v:.3<.8ip and e1tract the downloaded 8ip file. +ou will get following
file=s Odin: v:.3<.e1e-tma1.dll-8lib.dll-Odin:.ini
Right click on Odin: v:.3<.e1e and run it as administrator to start Odin.
$oot your device in download mode. >or most (amsung devices- you will need to do this%
(witch your device off.
)ress / hold )ower 9 Home 9 ?olume down buttons till you see a triangle and Android robot.
.ow press the ?olume up button to confirm entering the download mode.
Once it is in download mode- connect your device to the computer via '($ cable.
When your device is connected- one of Odin 7%*OM bo1es will turn yellow and display the
*OM port number. (ee the screenshot below%

mportant:f you do not see the port number in any of 7%*OM bo1es or if the bo1 does not turn
yellow- please do not proceed and check if the '($ drivers are installed correctly and the device is
connected via '($. f you do see the message- it means that your device was detected successfully by
Odin and you can now flash any firmware files onto your device using Odin.

f the firmware 8ip package had Aust one file- click on )7A button- then browse and select the
firmware file !.tar or .tar.md"#.

*lick on )hone button and select the file that has MO7BM in its name.
*lick on *(* button and select the file with *(* in its name.
(kip any files that you did not find in the package.

Auto Reboot and >. Reset &ime checkbo1es should be selected
All other checkbo1es should be unchecked.
After selecting the appropriate files- click on C(tartD button in Odin.&his will kick off the
process to flash the ROM. )lease do not disconnect your device during the process.
Once flashing is complete- your device will reboot. +ou can now disconnect from the )* and
start using it.

What is OdinE
Odin is a tool developed by (amsung to be used internally. t is used to flash firmware onto Android
devices. +ou can flash .tar- .tar.md" or .bin firmware files using Odin. &here are different versions of
Odin available. +ou can choose one depending on your device.
'nderstanding Odin Options

Auto Reboot%&his option- when checked- reboots the system automatically after flashing is
done.
Re4)artition%(o- what does re4partition do in OdinE t repartitions your device filesystem to the
default !R>(#.
> . Reset &ime%t resets the flashing timer after the flash process is complete.And here is what
different buttons mean and what they are used for%
)&%)artition nformation &able. f you checked the CRe4)artitionD checkbo1- you should also
specify a .pit file to repartition the file system.
$ootloader%&his button is used to flash the device $ootloader.
)7A%t refers to the firmware build. +ou can use this button to select the ROM or ,ernel that
you want to flash on to your device.
)hone%t refers to baseband / modem version.
*(*%*onsumer (oftware *ustomi8ation. *lick this button and select the *(* file. t contains
region or carrier specific files and may also include A). / MM( settings for that carrier.
)lease be aware that you need to be very careful while using Odin. Bspecially with CRe4)artitionD
option you need to select the right )& file. f you do not have the right .pit file- do not check CRe4
)artitionD option as it may brick your phone.
+ou need to select the right file against each button. *lick on the button- browse and select the
appropriate file. &hese files are usually found inside a firmware 8ip package. f used carefully and in
the right way- Odin is very handy tool.
