Training Summary,!"stract:
The engineering training is the best ay to ma#e the students ha$e sense
about the topics hich is studied at uni$ersity4 and ho to use the theories
in practice and real life. !o4 it is noticed there are many aims for
engineering training such as de$eloping the communication s#ills4 the
analytical thin#ing4 and define the problem hich may face the engineers.
In this report4 I5ll be describing my 1'6ee#s training program and the
type of or#s I as e%posed to4 such as shop draings4 super$ision o$er
the construction or#4 and do some tests for concrete samples.
I trained in /rab Toer Contracting Company 2 /TCC-3 in /bu /landa
reser$oir a part of desi ater pro7ect.
/fter the training finished I felt li#e I had impro$ed my field s#ills and
ho to deal ith people hose belong to se$eral le$el of #noledge4 it is
resulted by dealing ith more than (,, or#ers4 about 2( engineers4 and
other employers in the site. /nd each one come from different society
and has his on ay of thin#ing and the site engineer has to choose the
best ay to deal ith each one of them to increase the producti$ity of
pro7ect and ma#e the or# go faster.
The pro7ect here I trained as multi million pro7ect and gi$e me a lot of
e%periences because of the huge $olume of or#s4 and the many position
hich as a$ailable for the pro7ect engineers.
The pro7ect system as contained many site engineers each of them as
responsible for a specific 8one and all of them folloed to construction
manager4 and in the same ay there as many engineers or# as 9C:9/
engineers and all of them folloed the ;uality control manager4 in
addition to the shop draers4 ;uantity sur$eyor4 planer4 technical office
engineer hich as responsible to ma#e the communication ith other
company in the pro7ect4 all of the pre$ious engineesrs folloed the
pro7ect manager.
This report ill contain all my or# and obser$ations4 and ill mention
the or# hich I as responsible for.

#ntroduction
The desi ater pro7ect is one of the most important pro7ect in 0ordan
because it ill sol$e the ater shortage in /mman the largest city in
0ordan. !o4 it ill help in sol$ing that problem in all country.
/nd sol$ing ater shortage problem ill produce a lot of ad$antages to
the de$eloping processes in 0ordan.
The desi ater pro7ect is di$ided to three main parts4 e%traction of ater
from the ground4 drilling and installation of pipes4 and building the
reser$oirs.
The hole pro7ect is ith Tur#ish company 2 <ama3 hich di$ided the to
many other contacting company most of them is 0ordanian company one
of the 0ordanian company is 2/TCC-3 here I trained.
/bu =/landa reser$oir is a huge reser$oir e%tend on an area reach 3,,,,

4 and contains form to part each one lay out on opposite side4 so to
organi8e the or# it di$ided to four 8ones by calling one in a specific side
&14and the other called &24 then di$ided each part for to part then the
part is named as follo &1/4 &1>4 &2/4 &2>4 and appointed engineer
for e$ery part and the four engineer folloed the construction manager

-b7ecti$es of training
Preparation step for student before entering the or# field.
Identify the sectors and areas here the students ill choose one of
them after graduation.
De$elop the communication s#ills beteen the student and other
people in the or#
It gi$es a relation beteen the courses in uni$ersity and the field
re;uirements
De$elop methods for student5s analysis4 and pro$ide tools for
defining and resol$ing problems.

Eoundation@
the most important stage in the pro7ect4 and the most dangerous cause any
mista#es ould be affect on all ne%t stages. In this pro7ect4 the type of
foundation as raft foundation 2mat foundation3 lies belo all building.
.ormally raft foundation is used hen large load is to be distributed and
it is not possible to pro$ide indi$idual footings due to space constraints
that is they ould o$erlap on each other. &aft foundations ha$e the
ad$antage of reducing differential settlements as the concrete slab resists
differential mo$ements beteen loading positions. They are often needed
on soft or loose soils ith lo bearing capacity as they can spread the
loads o$er a larger area*
In this pro7ect it is used because e need to foundation ithout
7oints it means e need one piece foundation to pre$ent ater
lea#age.
&einforcement steel raft foundation

Columns@
the first step of building a column is to determine the columns centers
and borders by the sur$eyor ho use total station.
Then the column steel bars and stirrups erected as lay out under the
auspices of site eng.4 then the formor# installed and the column be
ready for casting.
super$ision engineers ha$e to chec# the or# and recei$e it4 he chec#s
the steel bars number4 diameter4 chec# section dimension4 and integrity by
using 2bulbul3. Casting
the columns should be ith height less than 1.2(m to protect the columns
from segregation.

&einforcement steel for column
&oof@
In this pro7ect the is contains from beams then it supports a precast panels
and there are A.( cm reinforced concrete co$er to 7oin the precast panels
ith beams.
The co$er has reinforced steel in both direction by using steel of diameter
of 12mm e$ery 1( cm.
11 | P a g e
>eams@
There is 3 types of beam each of them has '( cm depth but the deffirence
beteen them is in idth4 because e ha$e 3,cm4 A,cm4 and 2,cm.
/nd the most important thing in this process is the bracing and it
designed by more than ' engineers from site.
/nd the site engineer should spend time to ma#e sure that the steel is a
ay from the form or# by the co$er distance hich generally e;uals
(cm.

12 | P a g e
bracing

13 | P a g e
Construction 7oint
Panels@
The most important thing about panels is the deflection of each panel
hich not allos being more than 'cm. and the other thing here the
curing because the shortage of curing ill cause crac#s in the concrete.
1' | P a g e
Calls@
In a reser$oir the most important element is the alls because them ill
loaded by ater pressure and e need it ithout any construction 7oint to
pre$ent the lea#age of ater4 and it is impossible so it is casted each
segment alone and put seal material call ater stop and ma#e e%pansion
and shrin#age strip in alls and in foundation and all other element.
The thing you should spend time on it is the bracing of alls specially
that alls hich ith one face shutter4 because you can not use tie rod5s
hich the main element in bracing the alls in addition to the eight5s
hich pre$ent the all from mo$ing up lift. /nd there as a lot of
difficulties in alls bracing systems4 one of them forgetting put some of
foundation 7ac# plate before casting the foundation so it re;uired using a
modified bracing system in that locations.

Training 2or5
Eirst ee#@
The first as an introduction to ma#e an impression about the or# system of the
pro7ect4 and to meet the engineers and other technical in the site.
/nd the first ee# as the most difficult ee# hich I ha$e met because there as a
lot of or#4 from reading the basic s#etches to help the shop draer in draing the
details s#etches4 and going to the site and atch ho this design ill be implemented.
!econd ee#@
There as no different in or# natural but in this ee# I learn a lot of techniclal
details during my super$ision at a lot of or# such as installation of formor#4 doing
rebar of reinforcement steel4 and design the bracing system.
Third ee#@
In this ee# the or# continues as the pre$ious ee#4 but the ne thing for me is the
$isit to material laboratory to atch the process of test the strength of concrete4 and
ma#e sure the samples put in ater ith temperature at 22 c.
Eourth ee#@
/ll day of this ee# as spent in the site to help the site engineers in super$ision the
or#ers and the ;uality of or#s4 and this or# is the main duty for the site engineer.
Eifth ee#@
This ee# the or# as appeared to be repeated and I became familiar ith the site
and my duties. !o4 from this ee# the difficulties that I faced started to disappear.
!i%th ee#@
In this ee# I as responsible to do some shop draing for a ne building in the site4
hich is the electrical transformer4 and to chec# the other draing hich dran by
other draer.
!e$enth ee#@
In this ee# the building of transformer entered the implementation stage4 and my
duty as to super$ise the drilling or#s4 and the sur$eying or#.
"ighth ee#@
The last ee# as the most interesting ee# because I became familiar ith the or#
natural and the other employee4 in that ee# my duty as do chec#ing on the shop
draing or#s and e%plain it to the site engineer4 and rites the re;uest for inspection
and sent it to super$ision.

!afety is the most important things that all engineers and or#ers ha$e to
be learned.F There are many e;uipments 2including clothes3 is attended to
be orn or held by a person at or# 4 hich protects him against one or
more ris#s to his health or safety 4 as safety helmets 4 glo$es4 eye
protection4 high6$isibility clothing4 safety footear and safety harnesses.F
2PP"4 1++23.
In this pro7ect there is monitor ho responsible for the safety and security
in the site4 he meet a problems ith or#ers hose didn5t ear safety
helmets or safety shoes.

#mpact of Engineering and learned s5ills in Training*
In the site or# engineers face a lot of problems and difficulties hich
the site engineer should be patient enough to o$ercome it4 and there are a
sample of that problems@
Direct e%posure to sunlight
!tay in site until midnight in some situation.
Cor# ith huge number of people and e$eryone has
different ay of thin#ing.
In the side training gi$e the engineering student many benefits to help
before graduation4 the most important are@
&ecogni8e the real nature of or#.
Da#e a contact ith many companies that may gi$e 7ob
opportunities.
Belp in determining the areas hich the engineer prefers or# in
it.

Conclusion
Training is an important part of the plan of study4 lin#ing the curriculum
and or# re;uirements4 it also co$ers some aspects that do not teach or
that cannot be learned through the uni$ersity. &eading layouts4 the spirit
of cooperation4 responsibility4 respect for the time and patience are the
concepts that can be learned only in practice.
-ther benefits of the training is to identify the sub6specialty in hich a
person may ish4 for e%ample through training I reali8ed ho difficult
the or# at the site4 e%posure to direct sunlight4 dirt and dust4 the falling
of e;uipments and tools and forced to ascend to unsafe regions.
In all4 the training as e%tremely useful4 ne information as learned4
and the engineering sense as impro$ed.

Recommendation
I ad$ise all students to@
>e trained after the end of all the courses 2at the final semester3 to
be able to or# directly ith the same company .
Ta#e their training on6site training not in the office to learn the
practice process of Ci$il "ngineering.
Geep their attendance to achie$e the purpose of training
>e patient hen going to the site and remember that all starting is
difficult
!earch for a company li#e /rab Toer Contracting Company to
ta#e training in it 4because they ill help you as they can.
