'artoon Net"or% delights children.
&ut T.V. has its disadvantages as "ell. It ma%es the children neglect their study and sit
do"n glued to the T.V. *any private ca$le operators, screen movies almost .! hrs a
day. *ostly they are meant only for entertainment. *any commercial firms conduct
entertainment sho" involving student population. /nfortunately children vie" these
cheap filmy entertainment programs and "estern dance programs and lose their grip
"ith their traditional dances and dress style. Their interest in seeing commercial
sho"s is so much that they are almost glued to the T.V ignoring their studies. 'hildren
$ecome precocious and are often emotionally stunted due to premature exposure to
certain life experience. T.V does more harm than good to the present younger
generation. It is rightly called the Idiot &ox. If parents do not control their "ards, their

in real life too.
POLLUTION:
,ollution may $e due to natural process or from artificial process originating from

automo$iles cause $rain damage in children. 0ir pollution causes damage to property

"aste, and agricultural "astes contain toxins, organic ha1ardous materials.
Insecticides and pesticides also pollute "ater "hich $ecomes unfit for drin%ing.
4eavy metal "ater causes several adverse effects on man and cattle. (oil pollution

preserve the environment for the future generations.
MEMORABLE DAYS:
*emories have the uncanny a$ility to ta%e us $ac% in time. #hile the good memories
fade out the horri$le ones $ecome nightmares that continue to torment us throughout
7
our lives. They -ust re5uire a trigger to relive the experience, ma%ing us feel that it all
happened the other day. It "as yesterday, "hile flipping through an old school
maga1ine. I came across my photograph riding a $icycle captioned 89unior cycling
champ8. *y chest s"elled "ith pride, as I recalled the feeling of exhilaration, on
"inning the 9unior Inter (chool 75:: meters cycling championship. I "as in class VII
that year. #hen this championship "as held for the first time in our school, it "as one
of the toughest races I had ever "on. #hile trailing at num$er thrice till the
penultimate round, I "as a$le to "in the day $y a sudden $urst of speed in the final
round. ;$viously my regular practice and stamina had made the difference. <orm that
day on"ards, I loved my $icycle, tal%ing special care of it, "ith regular oiling and
maintenance. ;ne day on reaching the school late, I 5uic%ly par%ed it in the cycle
stand and rushed in -ust as the gate "as a$out to close. I "as happy on escaping the
punishment meted out to latecomers.
0fter the school "as over, I came to collect my cycle. It "as no"here in sight. I
searched every"here and it had -ust vanished into thin air. I reported the matter to the
school authorities, "ho in turn called the police, $ut all I got "as scolding for my
carelessness in not %eeping it loc%ed. <eeling de-ected and crest fallen, I had "al%ed
home "ith a heavy heart. *y father scolded me for my carelessness and from that day
on"ards my love for cycling came to an unceremonious end. I had indeed least and

MONEY:
*oney is the most po"erful medium to get things of our necessity, comfort and
luxuries. It is $y money that "e $uy our food, clothes and an a$ode. #ithout money,
"e cannot survive for a day. This is a fact of life. ;n the other side, it is also reali1ed
that money is not everything. It cannot $uy many things. It is said that, $y hiring the
services of a person for performing a -o$, you can only $uy his time in "hich he uses
his %no"ledge and s%ill $ut you cannot $uy his loyalty to you. 4is loyalty is a %ind of
donation or contri$ution to you. (imilarly, you cannot $uy a mother=s love or, for that
matter, love from anyone in exchange of money. If it "ere so, most of the millionaires
"ould not $e unhappy. There are many more things "hich money could not $uy. 3ife
cannot $e $ought $y money. *oney, though very po"erful, is not everything.
SPORTS:
In modern times parents as "ell as teachers seem to give importance only to studies.
This is so $ecause they "ant their children to $ecome either engineers or doctors.
They do not thin% that development of a sound $ody is needed. They tend to forget
that all study and no play "ould affect the shaping of the child6s personality. It is "ell
%no"n that only a sound $ody can $oast of a sound mind. To fulfill this, sports should
$e included in school curriculum. It is a fact that physical training and exercises help
to inculcate discipline. +very game or sport has its o"n set of rules. ;ne has to follo"
them scrupulously.
<urther, sports and games give the youngsters an opportunity to lead as "ell as $e
lead. Thus, sports help to $ring out and nurture the 5ualities of leadership.
Vive%ananda said that "e can reach heaven $y playing foot$all than $y reading the
2ita. #hat he "anted to stress "as the need for physical development. It is a pity that
the second highly populated
country in the "orld has never performed "ell in the sports and games and in
athletics. This is $ecause sports have not $een given sufficient importance in our
education if "e "ant only men "ith muscles of iron and nerves of steel. It is needless
.
to say that sports should $e made a part of school curriculum. ;ther"ise "e could
produce only $oo% "orms and not "orld champions.
;R
;ur focus should $e al"ays upon the complete development of a child "hich
education alone could never provide. education no dou$t can give $irth to an
impressive $rain $ut still something lac%s. That is the complete physical development
of a child "hich is often neglected. 4ealth is the most precious property gifted to us
$y divine. It needs proper nourishment through health education "hich is essential for
the complete gro"th and development of a child. It is the "ay to give relaxation to
$oth $ody and mind> the day to day $usy study schedule has made the students
someho" e5uivalent to machine "ho -ust follo" a routine "ithout any deviation.
constant study also ma%es it monotonous. the school curriculum should $e prepared in
such a "ay that a student get sufficient time to play. *ay it $e some innovative games
"hich help in their mental gro"th or may it $e some outdoor games "here they can
feel free to en-oy all their time in playing. ,roper guidance could $e given to them $y
the teachers. It "ould not only serve the purpose of refreshment for them $ut also
"ould ma%e them more active, increasing their concentration level. #e can expect
complete development only "hen $oth physical and mental development ta%es place
