Introducing the Outokumpu Frothbuster
The Outokumpu Frothbuster Deaerator is a breakthrough in the removal of entrained air from thickener feeds.
When installed in the thickener feed it detaches air bubbles adhering to the solid particles and removes air
bubbles from the feed stream, thus presenting a fully deaerated feed to the thickener feedwell.
Elimination of air from the thickener settling zone means that solid particles are not carried up to the surface
to form a froth commonly responsible for transporting large amounts of solids into the thickener overflow.
Tests show greater than 80% reduction in overflow solids is achieved.
Costs associated with concentrate loss and measures to recover concentrate which settles in process tanks
and ponds are minimised.
Outokumpu Frothbuster Deaerators are available to handle thickener feed rates up to 500m3/h.
A flexible modular design allows the Frothbuster to be located on the thickener bridge or at other locations
between the feed pump and thickener feedwell.
