Public documents obtained via a data practice request by Rich Neumeister (http://www.richneumeister.com) regarding the design of the Greenline stations and lack of public seats. I'm uploading these so the public may view them online.

Subject: Central Corridor LRT Design Review/Prototype Station Attendance:
Metro Transit CCPO DMJM Harris Team Adam Harrington Mary Sue Abel Scott Thompson Harvey J aeger Kyle Williams J oe Ebsen
Distribution: Attendees J im Alexander, CCPO Rex Brejnik, DMJ M Team Project File 2018 Agenda Review preliminary station design with Metro Transit planning and engineering staff. Meeting Notes 1. Introduction of design process and the contributing factors to the development of the preliminary prototypical station design. Lessons learned from Hiawatha line A consistency of station design along the Central Corridor line Ideas generated through a series of design charrettes Integration of Art into station design 2. Presentation of preliminary prototypical station design Review of center and split side platform zones (entry, circulation path, shelter, boarding/unboarding) Split side Configuration requires station identity begins at intersection
On Day 1, two car train will pull to front of platform Ticket Vending located at 1/3 points of platform Ticket validators and Information kiosk located at platform entry Platform is concrete with possible radiant heating. Possible use of waste heat from Excel Energy. Columns are concrete and possible art opportunity Rear platform wall is glass and metal mesh resting atop 18 precast concrete knee wall Canopy is flat roof system of Kalwall panels and solar panels with internal drainage sloping away from platform edge Canopies have copper fascia Shelter areas are glass and transparent as possible 3. Discussion topics Detectable Warning at platform edge is a concern. The discussion was brief but direct that the revised detail developed by KHA should be followed or adapted for use on the Central Corridor. Design staff to determine how to best apply retrofit detail used at Hiawatha to the Central Corridor stations. The same materials will be used, although the detail may be slightly different given the ability to tailor the new construction to be the best solution. Current field test at Warehouse Station is inconclusive at this time. o Action item(s): Design staff to coordinate with KHA at Hiawatha and Northstar projects and with MT staff as to final approved detail. Final detail yet to be determined. The current design provides adequate shelter. A question was raised about placing a glass wingwall at the front of the shelters. It was determined that the space left inside the windscreen shelter is not adequate with the wingwall added and that the wingwalls resulting size would likely not be sufficient to provide additional protection. o Action item(s): none Greenscreen is acceptable IF maintenance is minimal and maintains aesthetic value. MT staff commented that plant materials have not been successful at current installations both at bus facilities and at Hiawatha
LRT. Until MT employs a landscape maintenance staff, the plant materials used need to be maintenance free, hardy plants which can survive with little or no attention. o Action item(s): Design staff will continue investigating green roofing and screening with planting materials for suitability of use at CCLRT. An idea for maintenance was an Adopt-A-Station. Concerns about longevity and permanence of agreements with neighborhood groups to some degree preclude this as an option. o Action item(s): none The question was raised about a long-term agreement for corporate sponsorship of station or certain elements for example, Insert company name here transit line is a possible alternative. o Action item(s): MT Marketing staff to determine suitability or appropriateness. The flat roof style is simple and allows for the introduction of day lighting through translucent roof panels, a possible no-maintenance green roof as well as the addition of solar photovoltaic panels to be installed which would back-feed the power grid for credit. Xcel Energy has discussed this as an option. o Action item(s): Design staff to continue investigating materials and implementation methods. Way finding at intersections is critical. Maps indicating bus stop locations relative to transit platforms, including pedestrian crossing locations and train and bus route information are desired. Design staff to propose locations of wayfinding devices. o Action item(s): Design staff to coordinate with MT signage/graphics staff in regards to appearance and standards. Bus stops are not all currently at consistent locations relative to LRT, station to station. It is desired that stops be located consistently. o Action item(s): MT planning staff to investigate locations. The back side of the communications and electrical cabinets on the platforms has been identified as a location for advertising. The Hiawatha kiosks are not adequate from a weather-tightness standpoint. There is also concern (based on previous meetings with MT) that signs on the
backside of the platform are difficult to access to change. This will require a lane closure to safely change the advertisements. o Action item(s): Design staff to coordinate with Signage/Graphics and Marketing staff at Metro Transit. The bases of windscreen walls and other platform elements which interface with the walking surface should be coved or chamfered to allow easier cleaning and to prevent horizontal surfaces from being an area for patrons to leave behind litter (coffee cups etc); also, allow for water drainage. Small vertical gap at windscreen base another option, but must not be very high. o Action item(s): Design staff to continue development of design to reflect these methods and directions. The location and scope of advertising needs to be vetted out before public presentation of station design. o Action item(s): Design staff to continue to develop design images and drawings to reflect advertising. Coordination with MT marketing staff is required.
The first public release of the station design is planned for May 14. Internal reviews will occur the week(s) prior.
