Market Update
Key benchmark indices edged higher in a choppy trading
session. Data showing that foreign funds remained net buyers
of Indian stocks on Friday, 2 May 2014 offset weakness in
European stocks and lower US index futures. The market
breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was
negative. Gains in Reliance Industries, Hindalco Industries, ITC
and Larsen & Toubro offset losses in Hindustan Unilever, Infosys
and Housing Development Finance Corp. Trade remained
volatile throughout the session as investors chose to play on
specific stocks amid Jan-Mar earnings and other news.
Most Asian stocks rose in choppy trade. Key benchmark indices
in China, Indonesia and Taiwan were up 0.04% to 0.08%. Key
benchmark indices in Singapore and Hong Kong declined
0.34% to 1.28%. Markets in Japan and South Korea are closed
today and tomorrow for holidays.
European shares were lower as the European Commission
trimmed its economic growth forecast for the euro area in 2015.
Key benchmark indices in France and Germany fell 1.07% and
1.3%. Stock markets in UK were closed for a public holiday.




News Headlines
Godrej Properties added another premium residential housing
project in Gurgaon to its portfolio. The project will be the third
developed through its residential investment platform.
Shasun Pharmaceuticals acquired the global rights to develop
and commercialise the 12-hour extended release analgesic
tablets Ibuprofen from US-based ScolorPharma along with
those of pain killer Nuprin trademark for an undisclosed sum.
