Job description

Design, support and manage the wide area and local area network infrastructure d
evices for Eagle Ottawa's global network. This position is necessary because of
the size of the network, number of remote global locations, and the data traffic
that must flow between them.

Job Responsibilities:
Maintain WAN and LAN networks through monitoring, maintenance, management and do
cumentation of network infrastructure devices.
Maintain distributed Internet connectivity to network via Firewall, Proxy, and S
SL VPN services.
Provide guidance and project management for the implementation of information sy
stems and communications at new Eagle Ottawa facilities.
Research new network architectures and technologies that can improve the overall
performance and stability of the Eagle Ottawa global network.
Work with local technicians to resolve local network issues and provide point of
work order escalation for advanced troubleshooting of user or network problems.
On-Call 24x7 support of network outages and degradation of service.
Write annual state of the network report, detailing gained performance and cost
improvements, current status, and planned improvements.
Provide yearly budget recommendations for proper planning of the Global IT Budge
t.

Results Expected of the Job and Special Projects:
Implement Ethernet based global MPLS network, including upgrading bandwidth acro
ss all facilities. Support VOIP infrastructure and assist with projects that lev
erage network services. Maintain firewall security while allowing proper applic
ation access to Internet. Maintain routers, wireless APs, switches, and other n
etwork devices keeping them up to date, secure, and to our standards.
Desired Skills and Experience
Required Experience and Education:
Four-year degree and/or MBA
Information Technology Degree
The most appropriate level of experience for this position is 5 to 7 years plus
the education listed above.
CCNA required / CCNP preferred

Desired Skills:
Proven knowledge and understanding of TCP/IP protocol stack as well as the OSI m
odel layers.
Experience with Cisco routers, switches, wireless access points. This includes p
roficiency in Cisco IOS, router and switch architecture, routing protocols, spec
ifically BGP, EIGRP, 802.1q VLANs, VTP, QoS, NTP, SSH, Telnet, and SNMP.
Experience with network troubleshooting and monitoring tools. This includes ping
, traceroute, nmap, nslookup, and telnet.
Knowledge of telecommunications standards and technologies. This includes, Ether
net, T1, E1, DSL, MPLS, Leased Lines, and VPN.
Knowledge and understanding of WLAN protocols, standards and security, including
, WPA, PEAP, TKIP, RADIUS, 802.11b/g, and MAC authentication.
Ability to use Microsoft Visio to diagram and design network and systems topolog
ies.
Experience with Riverbed Steelhead appliances.
Experience with BlueCoat proxy servers.
Experience with Checkpoint and Cisco firewall technologies.
Must be able to speak/understand/read/write English.
