EXPLANATORY NOTES


1. The aims of the summer practice for the 3
rd
year are
focused on the students developing of the
elementary practice skills in Internal Medicine and
Surgery.
2. The standard of knowledge is minimal and
compulsory.
3. It is recommended that the practice may be made in
medical, surgical or emergency services.
4. The practice will be carried on under the supervision
of a specialist or medical doctor who will certify that
by signature and stamp.
5. The practice training will be evaluated by a
commission named by the Deans Office of the
Faculty of Medicine, during September 2

practice paper according to the procedure, until

Practice Standard


1. Medical/Surgical hands washing with water and soap /
disinfectant soap. Hands washing with alcoholic solutions
2. Knowledge and application of the rules pertaining to
"universal precautions.
3. Rules and methods of disinfection, asepsis and antisepsis
4. Patient monitoring (temperature, pulse, breathing, diuresis,
stool, vomiting, sputum).
5. Administration of parenteral therapy (intramuscular,
subcutaneous, intravenous)
6. Wound decontamination and dressing.
7. Performing the anamnesis and objective clinical examination
of patients admitted in the hospital ward/medical service
where the medical practicum is being carried out.
8. Guided filling out of forms and records specific to the
hospital ward/medical service
9. Communication with the patient with regard to health
education.
10. Informing patients regarding the necessary preparation prior
to imagistic explorations (abdominal echography, endoscopy,
contrast x-rays).
11. Cardio-respiratory resuscitation
12. Medical instruments sterilization
