2 THE INFORMATICS
HEALTH AND MEDICINE

The heart is a pump designed to force blood through our body. Blood is pumped from the heart
through the arteries out to our muscles and organs. Pumps work by generating pressure. Put simply, too
much pressure puts a strain on the arteries and on the heart itself. This can cause an artery to rupture or the
heart to fail under the strain - in the worst case stopping altogether.
Blood pressure depends on a combination of two factors: How forcefully the heart pumps blood
around the body and, how narrowed or relaxed your arteries are. Hypertension occurs when blood is forced
through the arteries at an increased pressure.

What is normal blood pressure?

Blood pressure is measured using two numbers. An example of this could be 'the blood pressure is 120
over 80', which is written as '120/80mmHg'. The first figure is the systolic blood pressure - the maximum
pressure in the arteries when the heart contracts (beats) and pushes blood out into the body.
The second figure is the diastolic blood pressure. This is the minimum pressure in the arteries between
beats when the heart relaxes to fill with blood. The systolic pressure is always listed first, then the diastolic
pressure. A typical normal blood pressure reading would be 120/80 mmHg.
What's classed as high?
There is a natural tendency for blood pressure to rise with age due to the reduced elasticity of the arterial
system. Age is therefore one of the factors that needs to be taken into account in deciding whether a per-
son's blood pressure is too high.
What are the symptoms?
One of the big problems with high blood pressure is that it hardly ever causes symptoms. Despite the
popularity of such ideas, nosebleeds and ruddy complexions are hardly ever caused by high blood pressure.
Severe hypertension can cause symptoms such as:

Headache Obesity
Sleepiness Smoking
Confusion Diabetes Type 1 or Type 2
Coma Kidney diseases
Tendency to suffer from hypertension High alcoholic intake
Excessive salt intake Lack of exercise

If your blood pressure requires medical treatment, you will probably have to take medicine on a
regular basis. If so, never stop taking it without consulting your GP, even if you feel fine. Hypertension can
lead to serious complications if left untreated.
Which medicines are used to treat hypertension?
ACE inhibitors stop the production of a hormone called angiotensin II that makes the blood vessels nar-
row. Angiotensin-II receptor antagonists work in a similar way to ACE inhibitors. Beta-blockers block the
effect of the hormone adrenaline and the sympathetic nervous system on the body. Calcium-channel block-
ers reduce muscle tension in the arteries, expanding them and creating more room for the blood flow. Diu-
retics help the body get rid of excess salt and fluids via the kidneys. In certain cases, they relax blood ves-
sels, reducing the strain on your circulation.

This method of hacking is considered

as to be the top rated and easy for be-
ginners.

Steps involved: 1. Html source page for preferred website

2. Php support
3. Uploading the mailer.php and html source page in to hosting website
4. Playing some tricks to make the victim login to the fake page……. Done!

How to prevent our self from this kind of hacking:

Its very simple switch on the phishing filter in browsers (download the lat-
est version of Microsoft internet explorer), Use internet security for your pc (Norton or
Nod32), Always make sure you have Windows Firewall or another firewall running on your

ART AND CULTURE

Every year on the fifteenth day of the eighth

month of the lunar calendar, when the moon is at its
maximum brightness for the entire year, the Chinese
celebrate "zhong qiu jie." The Moon festival (also
called the Moon cake or Mid-Autumn festival) falls on
October 3rd in the year 2009.The Moon Festival is one
of the most important traditional events for the Chinese.

Symbolism
The full moon is traditionally a symbol for re-
union, tuanyuan, as yuan means round. The Chinese
people celebrate by coming together as families to eat,
drink and be merry.

Why is the Mid-Autumn Festival so important?

It is related to the moon which Chinese people like very much. In Chinese culture, the full moon is
a symbol of peace and prosperity for the whole family. Its roundness symbolizes wholeness and together-
ness. In the middle of the eighth month of the Chinese calendar the moon is full, and eight is also a popular
number in Chinese culture, symbolizing wealth and prosperity. So people believe this day is very propi-
tious.

Early Beginnings of the Mid-Autumn Festival

The Moon Festival is full of legendary stories. Children are told the story of the moon fairy living
in a crystal palace, who comes out to dance on the moon's shadowed surface. The legend surrounding the
"lady living in the moon" dates back to ancient times, to a day when ten suns appeared at once in the sky.
The Emperor ordered a famous archer to shoot down the nine extra suns. Once the task was accomplished,
Goddess of Western Heaven rewarded the archer with a pill that would make him immortal. However, his
wife found the pill, took it, and was banished to the moon as a result. Legend says that her beauty is great-
est on the day of the Moon festival.

How to Celebrate the Moon Festival?

The Moon Festival is also an occasion for family reunions. The main celebrations during the Mid-
Autumn Festival are appreciating the moon, eating moon cakes together and making Chinese Mid-Autumn
Festival lanterns. These three celebrations have been passed from generation to generation.
While baked goods are common feature at most Chinese celebrations, moon cakes are inextricably
linked with the Moon festival. Moon cakes are typically round, symbolizing the full round moon of the mid
-autumn festival. They are usually made with four egg yolks, representing the four phases of the moon, and
are sweet, filled with sweet bean or lotus seed paste.
The Moon Festival is also a romantic one. A perfect night for the festival is if it is a quiet night
without a silk of cloud and with a little mild breeze from the sea. Lovers spend such a romantic night to-
gether tasting the delicious moon cake with some wine while watching the full moon. Even for a couple
who can't be together, they can still enjoy the night by watching the moon at the same time so it seems that
they are together at that hour. A great number of poetry has been devoted to this romantic festival.
Hope the Moon Festival will bring you happiness.

SPORTS AND EVENTS

“The English are not very spiritual people so they invented cricket to give them some idea of eternity”- George Bernard Shaw.
Cricket is not a new game to the modern world however it is new for the Chinese people so I want to introduce this game. Peo-
ple are going crazy about cricket matches these days and a type of madness has entered in the world of betting. So let’s learn
about the game format and rules over here.
Cricket is a game played between two teams made of 11 players each and with a reserved player called a ‘twelfth man’
who is used when a player is injured in the game. Test cricket is played of two innings and limits in 5 day length. One day in-
ternational game is played of a 50 over match and twenty20 cricket is played of a 20 over match for each team.

WAYS TO SCORE RUN

The batsman should hit the ball and must run to the other
end of the pitch. They can score runs by hitting a boundary
as well. The boundary scores are either 4 or 6 runs. Other
ways in which runs can be scored according to the cricket
rules include no balls, wide balls, byes & leg byes.
A "No Ball" can be declared for many
reasons: If the bowler bowls the ball from the wrong place,
the ball is declared dangerous (often happens when bowled
at the batsman's body on the full), bounces more than twice
or rolls before reaching the batsman or if fielders are stand-
ing in illegal positions. A "Wide Ball" will be declared if
the umpire thinks the batsman did not have a reasonable
opportunity to score off the delivery. A "Bye" is where a
ball that isn't a no ball or wide passes the striking batsman
and runs are scored without the batsman hitting the ball. A
"Leg Bye" is where runs are scored by hitting the batsman,
but not the bat and the ball is not a no ball or wide.

WAYS OF BATSMAN OUT

There are different ways a batsman is given out according to the rule of cricket:
Bowled- if the ball is bowled and hits the batsman’s wicket then the batsman is out (as long as at least one bail is removed by
the ball)
Caught-if a batsman hits the ball or touches the ball at all with his bat or hand/glove holding the bat then the batsman can be
caught out by fielder, wicketkeeper or bowler
Leg Before Wicket (LBW)-If the ball is bowled and it hits the batsman first without the bat hitting it then an LBW decision is
possible. However for the umpire to give this out he must first look at some of the factors stated in the cricket rules.
Stumped-if the wicketkeeper puts down his wicket when batsman is out of his crease and not attempting the run then he is out
Run out-the batsman is out if no part of his body is grounded behind the crease while the ball is in play and the wicket is
fairly put down by the fielder.
Hit wicket- if the batsman hits his wicket down with his bat or body after the bowler has entered his delivery and the ball is in
play then he is out.
Handled the ball- the batsman is given out if he willingly handles the ball with the hand that is not touching the bat without
the consent of the opposition
Timed out- an incoming batsman must be ready to face a ball or be at non strikers end with his partner within three minutes of
the outgoing batsman being dismissed otherwise he is out
Hit the ball twice-if a batsman hits a ball twice other than for the purpose of protecting his wicket or with consent from the
opposition he is out.
Obstructing The Field- A batsman is out if he willingly obstructs the opposition by word or action

Queen Elizabeth II is anything but a

some would call a hi-tech revolution.
She got her first cellphone in 2001 and

Obama and the first lady Michelle

new ipod contains the same features as
the former. In addition to those gadg-

stop there. Even more interesting, it
seems that the queen is addicted to the

that she played a simple bowling game

While there, they were joined by the

president of that company, Dr. Wang Zhibiao along
with the director of international affairs, Mr. Peng

tour of the HIFU center and the visitors were able to
gain knowledge about the medical procedure. After
the tour, the guests got to sit down with Mr. Wang and
Mr. Peng. Everyone was given a chance to ask a few
questions in order to gain further knowledge concern-
ing HIFU. Moments before leaving, the visitors ex-
plored the center some more and also took pictures.
While leaving, it wasn’t necessary to ask each person
what they thought. The look on their faces said it all.

With Modified Osteo-Odonto Keratoprosthesis (MOOKP), surgeons from the Univer-

and drilled to hold a prosthetic lens. The whole unit was then implanted into her chest
for months allowing bondage between tooth and lens and finally, fixed into her eye.
She had been a victim of Stevens-Johnson syndrome that resulted in severe skin reac-

Severe corneal scarring had eventually made her blind. Two weeks succeeding the sur-

CREATION OF PIG STEM CELLS

A team of researchers led by Dr. Lei Xiao at the Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry
and Cell Biology has succeeded to induce somatic cells from pigs to transform into
ungulate pluripotent embryonic stem cells capable of developing into any cell type
in the body. This is the first report of creating such stem cells in the world. The pig
species is significantly alike to humans in terms of function and organ dimensions.
So, the research is believed to open doors to creating models for human genetic dis-
orders, genetically engineering animals for organ transplantation in humans and
for developing disease resistant pigs. Scientists believe these stem cells could be
used to modify immune-reated genes in pigs to make pig organs compatible to hu-
man immune system and thus, use pigs as organ donors. The implications of this
achievement are far reaching for animal and human health.
