2.1 TUMR26 alarms

The TUMR26 card unit has 6 alarms that may occur depending on current unit status:
Temperature Alarm: occurs in case the unit temperature goes over 75C or below 0C.
Power Supply Alarm: occurs in case the sub-rack main supply source voltage goes over 14V
or it goes below 10V.
Vcc Alarm: occurs in case of internal RF stage and Signal Processor power supply circuit
malfunctioning.
Synchronization Lost: occurs in case the Signal Processor is not able to correctly detect
WiMax preamble parameters resulting in missing system synchronization
1
.
Internal bus alarm: occurs in case the internal Signal Processor communication is
malfunctioning, no configuration changes are possible if this alarm is active. (Note: a unit
Reboot
2
command may fix the problem)
Over Power WiMax: occurs in case the RF input power exceeds the maximum value of the
input power operating range
3
.

Fig. 3: TUMR-26 configuration window ALARM section

1
In case the Synchronization Lost alarm is active please check the TUMR26 configuration (it is recommended
to configure all settings in AUTO and to check the Channel Frequency configuration) and the input WiMax Rf
signal power that should be in the range [0..20dBm].
2
Rebooting the TUMR26 causes a temporary sub-rack I2C bus alarm that is automatically cleared once the unit
finishes its startup (it takes about 30 seconds).
3
See TUMR26 technical specification sheet. This feature has not been implemented in TUMR26 prototypes.

2.2 TUMR26 status settings

The TUMR26 has 5 statuses that show current unit configuration, 4 of them are user settable:
Signal Processor: ON means that the internal processor module is active; OFF means that
the internal processor module has been turned off.
FFT Size: it is a parameter used to decode the WiMax preamble, all FFT Size settings (Auto,
512, 1024, 2048) are mutually exclusive the latest one changed to Selected makes all the
other Not Selected. The factory setting is Auto FFT Size this means that actual setting is
automatically selected by Signal Processor.
Cyclic Prefix: it is a parameter used to decode the WiMax preamble, all Cyclic Prefix settings
(Auto, 4, 8, 16, 32) are mutually exclusive the latest one changed to Selected makes all the
other Not Selected. The factory setting is Auto Cyclic Prefix this means that actual setting
is automatically selected by Signal Processor.
Auto DL Symbols: if this setting is Selected the Signal Processor automatically determines
the Number of DL Symbols needed for preamble decoding, the correspondent manual
configuration is disabled. If this setting is Not selected the current Number of DL Symbols
cna be changed manually. (see TUMR26 analogical settings paragraph). The factory setting
is Auto DL Symbols =Selected.
Store Signal Processor Config.: in order to make current configuration permanent (not
affected by a unit reboot) it is required to select this setting and press SUBMIT.

2.3 TUMR26 analogical monitors and settings

The TUMR26 has 1 read only monitor, the unit Temperature, and 2 user settable parameters:
Channel Frequency: is the WiMax channel center frequency that is used by Signal
Processor to detect and decode the signal preamble. There are 2 available frequency
ranges: 2.5GHz range from 2496 to 2599 MHz and the 2.6GHz range from 2600 to
2690GHz. The user can select the preferred one changing the Frequency Range value (2.5
or 2.6 GHz] , within the selected range the user should type the frequency that matches the
input signal rounded to the nearest lower integer value (MHz) then , if needed, the channel
frequency can be adjusted using the Channel Frequency Adjust parameter with a
resolution of 200KHz. For instance if the desired frequency is 2635.4MHz the user should
perform the following steps:
1. refresh the window by clicking on refresh button or pressing F5 on keyboard,
2. type 2.6 in the Frequency Range setting text box,
3. type 2635 in the Channel Frequency (2.6GHz) setting text box,
4. type 400 in the Channel Frequency Adjust setting text box
5. click on SUBMIT.
Remember to Store Signal Processor Config. in order to make current configuration permanent
The factory configuration is: Channel Frequency =2600.0MHz
DL Symbols: is a parameter used by Signal Processor to decode the WiMax preamble. If the
Auto DL Symbols setting is enabled the actual DL Symbols may be different from the
value that is shown in the related text box. In case of trouble (Eg, the Synchronization Lost
alarm is active) the user may try changing this parameter. For instance if the desired number
of DL Symbols is 29 the user should perform the following steps:
1. Disable the Auto DL Symbols , if it enabled enabled, from the status section
2. refresh the window by clicking on refresh button or pressing F5 on keyboard,
3. type 20 in the DL Symbols text box,
4. type 9 in the DL Symbols Adjust text box,
5. click on SUBMIT.
The new DL Symbols value is immediately used by Signal Processor to decode WiMax
preamble. Remember to Store Signal Processor Config. in order to make current
configuration permanent.
The factory configuration is Auto DL Symbols =enabled

3.1 TPOI26 alarms

The TPOI26 card unit has 6 alarms that may occur depending on current unit status:
Temperature Alarm: occurs in case the unit temperature goes over 75C or below 0C.
Power Supply Alarm: occurs in case the sub-rack main supply source voltage goes over 14V
or it goes below 10V.
Vcc Alarm: occurs in case of internal power supply circuit malfunctioning.
DL WiMax band alarm: occurs in case one or more internal Downlink RF amplifier stages are
malfunctioning (or completely turned off due to Vcc Alarm).
Synchronization Lost: occurs in case the input synchronization signal is missing
4
.
Over Power WiMax: occurs in case the RF input power exceed the absolute maximum value
of the input power
5
.

Fig. 8: TPOI-26 configuration window ALARM section

3.2 TPOI26 status settings

The TPOI26 has 1 status configuration that may be changed according to current system
configuration:
DL backward compatibility: is a special configuration parameter that allows user change unit
maximum gain. In case the TPOI26 output RF signal feeds ION-B optical master unit
(TFLN2504-4) with old RF auxiliary channel specification
6
it is required to change maximum

4
Please check that the front panel RJ 11 connector is correctly hooked to a TUMR26 front panel RJ 11
connector and that a valid WiMax signal is feeding TPOI26.
5
For details refers to TPOI26 technical specification sheet .
6
Starting from 2008 ION-B master optical card RF specification has been improved especially regarding the
auxiliary channel leveling this results in different TPOI26 maximum gain configuration depending on which kind
of TFLN is fed. Please check the all TFLNs serial numbers in order to determine whether they were released
with old or new RF specification: if the serial number is greater than 00008XXXXXXX the unit has new RF
spec. and no TPOI changes are required otherwise it is needed to change default DL backward compatibility to
Max Gain: 18dB.

12
ION-B WiMax Product Configuration Manual
gain from 15 to 18dB. The factory setting is DL backward compatibility =Max Gain: 15dB
therefore by default the TPOI26 is compatible to latest optical master unit RF specification.

Fig. 9: TPOI-26 configuration window STATUS section

3.3 TPOI26 analogical monitors and settings

The TPOI26 has 2 read only analogical monitors:
Temperature: is the unit internal temperature in C.
DL Output Power: is the WiMax channel power measured at the output of the TPOI26
It has also 2 user settable parameters:
Downlink WiMax Attenuation: is the downlink gain adjustment due to system calculation in
order to compensate RF input level or following system stage loss. The factory attenuation
is 0dB (maximum downlink gain ) and the available attenuation range is from 0 to 27dB
(even if the SW reports a range of 0~30dB); in case the DL backward compatibility is
activated ( Max Gain: 18dB) then the actual available attenuation range changes in 0 to
30dB
7
.
Uplink WiMax Attenuation: is the uplink gain adjustment due to system calculation in order to
compensate RF level in the uplink path due to previous system stage loss. The factory
configuration is 0dB ( maximum uplink gain) and the available attenuation range is always
from 0 to 30dB.
