FOR ALL THE DECEASED ~~ By Thy resurrection from the dead, O Christ, death

no longer hath dominion over those who die in holiness. So, we beseech Thee, give
rest to Thy servants in Thy sanctuary and in Abraham's bosom. Grant it to those,
who from Adam until now have adored Thee with purity, to our fathers and
brothers, to our kinsmen and friends, to all men who have lived by faith and
passed on their road to Thee, by a thousand ways, and in all conditions, and make
them worthy of the heavenly kingdom. Amen
Byzantine Liturgy
Eternal Father, I ofer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son,
Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the
holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal
church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen.
LORD God omnipotent, I beseech Thee, by the Precious Blood which Thy Divine
Son Jesus shed through the streets of Jerusalem when He carried the crust upon
His sacred shoulders, deliver the Souls in Purgatory, and especially that Soul
which is richest in merits before Thee; that so, on that throne of glory which awaits
it, it may magnify Thee and bless Thee forever. Amen.
O Holy Guardian Angels of the poor souls, you who accompanied them so faithfully during life, who
so lovingly guarded them from error, misfortune, and sin, help them now when, having escaped from
the dangers of the world, they are so near to heaven. Obtain for them from the Most Holy Trinity a
full remission of their indebtedness and lead them without delay to the joys of heaven. Amen
A Prayer for Deceased Parents ==
O God, who hast commanded us to honor our father and our mother; in Thy mercy
have pity on the souls of my father and mother, and forgive them their trespasses;
and make me to see them again in the joy of everlasting brightness. Through
Christ our Lord. Amen.
O God, Who has commanded us to honour our father and mother, have
compassion in Thy mercy, on the souls of my father and mother; forgive them their
sins, and grant that I may see them in the joy of eternal brightness. Through
Christ our Lord.
Prayer for a Dead Child
O Lord who watches over children in the present life and in the world to come
because of their simplicity and innocence of mind, abundantly satisfying them
with a place in Abraham's bosom, bringing them to live in radiantly shining places
where the spirits of the righteous dwell: receive in peace the soul of Your little
servant (name), for You Yourself have said, "Let the little children come to Me, for
such is the Kingdom of Heaven." Amen.
We suppliants, O Lord, pour forth our prayersfor the souls of Thy servants and
handmaids, that Thou wouldst mercifully pardon whatsoever they have committed
through human frailtyand graciously bring their suferings to an end. Through
Our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen
(From the Benedictine Diurnal)
A Prayer for Friends and Benefactors
O God, bountiful in forgiving, and lovingly desirous of man's salvation, we humbly
beseech Thy mercy in behalf of our friends, relations and benefactors, who have
passed from this world, that, through the intercession of Blessed Mary ever Virgin
and all the Saints, Thou wouldst permit them to come to the full participation of
everlasting happiness.Through the same Jesus Christ our Lord.
O Holy and Adorable Trinity, desiring to cooperate in the deliverance of the Souls
in Purgatory, and to testify my devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, I cede and
renounce in behalf of those Holy Souls all the satisfactory part of my works, and
all the sufrages which may be given to me after my death, consigning them
entirely into the hands of the most Blessed Virgin, that she may apply them
according to her good pleasure to those souls of the faithful departed which she
desires to deliver from their suferings. Deign, O my God, to accept and bless this
ofering which I make to Thee at this moment. Amen.
Your only Son, Christ, our Savior, sufered so cruelly that He might deliver them
from the second death.

By His merits may they share in the glory of His victory over sin and death.
For all the faithful who have died we pray, but in particular for those dear to us,
parents, relatives, and friends.
Nor do we forget all who did good to us while on earth, who helped us by their
prayers, sacrifces, and example.
We pray also for any who may have done us harm, and stand in special need of
Your forgiveness.
May the merits and prayers of our Virgin Mother, Mary, and those of all Your
angels and saints, speak for us and assist them now.
We ask this in Christ's name. Amen
O Gentlest Heart of Jesus, ever present in the Blessed Sacrament,
ever consumed with burning love for the poor captive souls in Purgatory,
have Mercy on the soul of Thy departed servant.
Be not severe in Thy Judgment
but let some drops of Thy Precious Blood
fall upon the devouring fames and do Thou,
O Merciful Savior send Thy angels
to conduct Thy departed servant
to a place of refreshment, light and peace.
O God of all consolation, author of the salvation of souls,
have pity on those who sufer in Purgatory,
and grant them, together with entire deliverance from their suferings,
the happiness You promised to Your servant, Abraham and his posterity.
Be moved, O Lord, by the consideration of the fdelity
with which they served You during life,
and forget the faults which through human frailty they have sometimes committed;
take them from this place of punishment and darkness,
and bring them to the place of peace and light.
Hear O Lord, my humble prayer,
and grant this grace to those for whom I pray.
OUR FATHER, WHO ART IN HEAVEN, I beseech You, O Heavenly Father, pardon
the Souls in Purgatory, for they did not love You sufciently, nor render to You all
the honor which is Your due, due to You their Lord and Father, Who, by pure
grace, have adopted them as Your children. By their sins, rather, have they driven
You from their souls, where You none the less wished always to live. In reparation
for these faults, I ofer You the love and veneration which Your Incarnate Son
showed You all during His earthly life, and I ofer all the acts of penance and
satisfaction which He performed and by which He efaced and atoned for the sins
of men.
HALLOWED BE THY NAME, I beg You, O Father Most Good, pardon the Souls in
Purgatory, for they did not honor, always and fttingly, Your Holy Name, but often
they took It in vain and proved unworthy of the name "Christian", by their lives of
sin. In reparation for their faults, I ofer to You all the honor which Your Well-
Beloved Son rendered to Your Name by His words and deeds.
THY KINGDOM COME; I pray You, Father Most Good, pardon the Souls in
Purgatory, for they did not always seek or adore Your Kingdom with enough fervor
and diligence; This Kingdom, the only place where true rest and peace reign. In
reparation for their omissions, through indiference to do what is good, I ofer You
the Most Holy Desire of Your Son, by which He wished that they also might become
heirs of His Kingdom.
Good, pardon the Souls in Purgatory, for they did not always submit their will to
Your Will. In reparation for their disobedience, I ofer You the perfect conformity of
the Heart, full of love, of Your Divine Son with Your Holy Will and the most
profound submission which He showed in obeying You unto death on the Cross.
GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD; I pray You, Father Most Good, pardon the
Souls in Purgatory, for they did not always receive the Holy Sacrament of the
Eucharist with enough desire, but often without contemplation, or love, or even
unworthily, or they neglected to receive It. In reparation for these faults, I ofer You
the outstanding Holiness and the great contemplation of Our Lord Jesus Christ,
Your Divine Son, addressed to You in favor of His enemies when He was on the
AGAINST US; I pray You, Father Most Good, pardon the Souls in Purgatory, all the
faults of which they have been guilty through succumbing to the Seven Capital
Sins and also in not having wished either to love or pardon their enemies. In
reparation for these faults, I ofer You the outstanding Holiness and the great
contemplation of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Divine Son, addressed to You in
favor of His enemies when He was on the Cross.
AND LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION; I pray You, Father Most Good, pardon the
Souls in Purgatory, because too often they did not resist temptations and the
passions, but they followed the Enemy of all goodness. In reparation for all these
sins, in thought, word, and deed. I ofer You the glorius victory which Our Lord
won against the world, as well as His Most Holy Life, His Work and Sorrows, His
Sufering and His Most Cruel Death.
BUT DELIVER US FROM EVIL; and from all punishments through the Infnite
Merits of Your Well-Beloved Son and lead us, as well as the Souls in Purgatory, into
Your Kingdom of eternal glory. Amen.
O merciful God, take pity on those souls who have no particular friends and
intercessors to recommend them to You, who either through negligence of those
who are alive or through length of time, are forgotten by all. Spare them, O Lord,
and remember Your own when others forget to appeal to Your mercy. Let not the
souls You have created be parted from You, their Creator. Amen.
Cleanse them of their sins and fulfll their ardent desires that they may be made
worthy to behold Thee face to face in Thy glory. May they soon be united with Thee
and hear those blessed words which will call them to their heavenly home: "Come,
blessed of My Father, take possession of the kingdom prepared for you from the
foundation of the world." Amen
