The Importance of Thanking Donors

A non-profits budget is a large determining factor of how an
organization will accomplish its mission and goals. As such, it is
imperative to stay on top of donations from contributors to ensure
continuous support is received. Having a process to track
incoming donations and recognize a donor will ensure the
contributing party feels fulfilled by their charitable act.

Sending a card or letter thanking the donor should be completed
within two weeks and should include information about the
organization. Providing another opportunity to connect with the
individual, a card or letter also serves as tax documentation. If
there is a delay in sending the materials, a phone call is
acceptable to bridge the gap between the donation period and the
arrival of the thank you material.
