Course Material for AM5010 - Biomechanics, Aug-Dec 2014

Course Objecties! The goal of AM5010 is to equip you to apply engineering principles in
general and mechanics in particular to problems involving human function. The course is
designed based on concepts learned in undergraduate engineering mechanics of rigid body motion.
Emphasis is placed on the relationship between engineering mechanics and human body
structure and function with special emphasis on static and dynamic analysis of how muscles
ligaments and bones interact during typical activities. !eformable material modeling will be
dealt after introducing appropriate bac"ground fundamentals. #inally you will be taught practical
$iomechanics problems in biomedical engineering.
