Kilichowskis win leads us to look into the success bred at Jesuit High School
Monday June 23 rd , Vanderbilts freshman pitcher John Kilichowski came in clutch on college baseballs biggest stage by pitching a 1,2,3 inning to preserve a 9-8 lead over Virginia in Game 1 of the College World Series. The Cavaliers had been on a hitting streak against the last two Commodore pitchers when the young lefty came in to pitch in the 6th inning. Kilichowski is a Tampa native who attended Jesuit High School in his hometown. He credits a lot of his success to what he learned at Jesuit on the field and in the classroom. Jesuit is a small all- boys private catholic college-prep school. This high school might sound familiar because of the success of the alumni who were once Jesuit Tigers. With the Vanderbilt pitcher joining that list of alumni, lets take a look at some of the alumni who accompany him. The success ranges from in athletic competition to in the laboratory. For you sports fans out there, Jesuit has bred athletes such as Baseball Hall of Famer Al Lopez, Baseball player and famous manager Lou Peniella, Baltimore Ravens running back Anthony Allen, and Arizona Cardinals kicker Jay Feely. Along with athletes they have also produce big names in sports such as Atlanta Falcons owner Rich Mckay. The success of Jesuit Alumni does not end with athletics. Many other successful men of other professions are alums of Jesuit High School. The names range from U.S. Congressman Jim Davis to Philanthropist and owner of the famous Columbia Restaurant, Richard Gonzmart. Even in recent news, Jesuit alumnus John Kovac is an astronomer who is about to win a Noble Prize for his recent studies with the big bang theory. These are just a few names on a long list of successful Jesuit Alumni. The school really lives up to its Blue Ribbon School of Excellence title by the amount of success that its alumni have and many of the alumni attribute a lot of their success to what they learned during their time at Jesuit. At Jesuit they really try to instill a want to succeed in their students. Through a vast amount of clubs and sports, the students really learn true leadership and hard work. With the rigorous courses at Jesuit, students leave with a strong work ethic and just from the few names listed above it is evident that it pays off. Throughout Florida there arent too many places like it and in my opinion, it is high school with a strong brotherhood and that plays a big role in its students success. With some many brothers there to back you up in athletics and in the classroom, it is almost guaranteed success. Their students stay brothers throughout their lives and this support they receive in athletics and in the classroom carries over to success in higher levels of athletics, the office, the lab, the stage, and etc. Jesuit is the perfect environment for success. Plain and simple.
