3. Material Noun/ Uncountable
Noun - explain.
A: Material noun - The names of
matter/ substance things are mode
of: Iron, gold, silver, clay, etc.
Uncountable noun - Names of
things we can not count - wood,
goodness, beauty, advice, etc.
All material nouns are uncountable,
but not all countable nouns are
material nouns.
eg: Goodness is uncountable, but it
is not a material noun. It is an
abstract noun.
4. Reflexive pronoun/ Emphatic
pronoun - say the difference.
Reflexive: He killed himself - Here
'himself' is a reflexive pronoun,
because the verb, 'killed' says that
the subject, 'He' did something to
'himself'. So a pronoun which
talks of something done to itself is
a reflexive pronoun.
An ''emphatic' pronoun emphasizes
. ...: the other pronoun
it refers to.
I myself saw it. . . .
..: .. 'myself' here is an
emphatic pronoun. Usually reflex-
ive pronoun comes at the end of the
sentence:
I hurt myself (Myself - reflexive)
She herself saw it/ she saw it herself
- Look at the position of the
emphatic pronoun - It may come
immediately after the subject, or at
the end of the sentence, after the
object.
