THOUGHTS FROM BRAD
There is a popular country music song that says, God is
great, beer is good and people are crazy that is sung by
Billy Currington. I cant say that I totally agree with those
lyrics, but Currington is right when he sings, God is great.
As a child you may have learned to say God is great, God
is good, now we thank him for our food. Amen! So
whether you are a parent or a country music singer, the fact
that God is great is easily seen.
As I sit down today to write this article, I am overwhelmed
by Gods greatness. This attribute of God is evidenced
through every minute of every day in my life. His Greatness
can be easily seen in the church. Just take a second and
ponder the transformation He has brought you through,
moving you from conforming to the pattern of the world to
being transformed into His likeness (Romans 12:1-2). Only
God is great enough to accomplish that!
Think about how he can take an individual who has
floundered his way through life and given him a purpose in
every step like we spoke of last Sunday.
God has been doing this mighty work for generations and
He still moves man from complacency to commitment in
their walk with Jesus. He is great!
Recently we had a meeting/cookout asking for individuals
to assist us with serving in our Childrens church. We now
have six teams of individuals who committed to teaching
our children during our morning worship time. May God be
praised!
We have recently had five individuals baptized into Christ!
Only God can do that! May God be praised!
This past week several of our ladies gathered together to
make dresses for children in Haiti. They accomplished a lot
and are going to have another night in August to complete
what they started. By the time they are finished, many
children will have clothes to wear who are desperately in
need. Only God is great enough to do that. May God be
praised!
Just look around and see the greatness of God this week and
take time to notice it as I speak about Him today. Scripture
says, The LORD has done great things for us; we are glad
(Ps. 126:3).

BITS FROM BRO. DAVE

SUCCESSFUL TRIP: Our KeenAgers trip to Zoar
Village was very interesting. We had a total of 24
enjoy the tour, lunch in Strasburg and a stop at
Yaggis Cheese Shop. We arrived back home
without incident. We thank God for His care.

KEENAGERS TRIP IN AUGUST: On Wednesday,
August 27, we will be traveling to Amish Country to
visit the site of David Warthers Carvings. David is
the grandson of the gentleman who carved all the
astounding trains which are shown at the museum
in New Philadelphia. Our plan is to have lunch at
Dutch Valley and visit some shops. Watch for more
information on time and cost. A sign-up sheet will
be posted soon.

ZANESVILLE SENIOR EVENT: On September 9,
the North Terrace Church of Christ will be hosting
their annual New Horizons retreat. This is a
single day event. Our hosts provide a continental
breakfast, lunch and a great program. If you
register by August 12, the fee is just $20 per
person. A sign-up sheet and registration forms
may be found on our main bulletin board.
Complete a form and pass it, along with your
registration fee, to me for mailing. (I have
forwarded 5 registrations, already.)

MIDWEEK BIBLE STUDIES: Our two study
groups will resume on September 10. Watch for
details.

NOTE: I will be your guest preacher for morning
and evening services next week (Aug. 10).

FINAL THOUGHT: The reason a lot of people do
not recognize opportunity, when they meet it, is that
it is usually wearing work clothes and looking like
hard work.

Its that time of year again new students
will be moving in at Ohio University in

several years, they have handed out
hundreds of cookies to hungry students and
parents during the first few days before and
after the start of classes. If you would like
to bake cookies, please put 3-4 average-
sized cookies in a zip lock bag and bring
them to the church kitchen on Sunday,

Core Values...

Values central to the life, mission and
vision of Fifth Avenue Church of Christ are:

Christ-Centered Worship
We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus through our
music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesus through grace-
based preaching and teaching & understand the Bible is our
authority (2 Timothy 3:16).

Church Health and Biblical Balance
Church health becomes reality when God's people seek harmony &
live consistently. We expect every member to protect the unity
of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8)

Global Evangelism
We are constant to our founding call to worldwide evangelism,
proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior, Healer, and Soon-
Coming King (Acts 20:27).

Fellowship and Ministry
After people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip them to
find a ministry based upon their strengths. We want everyone to
serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want His
church to be the living evidence of His love and power to the world.

Discipleship
We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church of
Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks
a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In other
words, we want to see the things you are taught actually change
your lifestyle & your daily decisions.

Social Conscience
We place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Biblical
marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity (Isaiah
56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).

OUR PURPOSE

WE EXIST TO

Exalt Gods Greatness;
Evangelize Gods Work
Equip Gods People
Express Gods Love through Jesus Christ

OUR MISSION
To Love God and Love
People!
How Can I Respond Today?
At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on all
issues. We believe that Gods Word is clear
concerning what a person must do to become a
Christian.
Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation.
Turn (repent) from the sin in your life.
Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord
of your life.
Be baptized (immersed) in water for the
forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy
Spirit into your life.
To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you
come forward during our commitment song at the
conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized believers
are welcome to become members at FACC by coming
forward on Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior
Minister to discuss this further. We ask that you
complete a series of Curious classes to help you
better understand what you are committing to as a
member. If you would like to take a Curious class,
please indicate this on your Silent Roll Call Card.
