1. What is the poem about?

2. What may be implied by the:
a. Lack of capitalization
b. Lack of punctuation
c. Dividing line between words
3. What social issue can be gleaned from the poem? Discuss
Answer:
1. The poem 40-Love is talking about the relationship between a husband and a wife who has
actually love each other. They sometimes have different views and opinions about something.
They stand as opposed to another. It is described by the illustration of playing tennis. There is a
net between them when the game is over which can be interpreted as a problem or conflict. But
we can still interpret the word net as love at the same time. Because it is just a game, when they
have quarreled, actually they still a couple. They still husband and wife. The problem or conflict
will always be there, but it does not mean they do not love each other.
2. a. The lack of capitalization in this poem implied that it is common to have different point of
view between sweethearts. It is natural and usual when a couple has a different opinion.
Conflict between two persons who love each other should not be capitalized.
b. The lack of punctuation in this poem implied that this conflict can come suddenly. It is not
necessary to have a big problem or serious matter. It can be something that they usually face
everyday. There is no sign if they have to position their choices to become different from their
sweetheart, even they never plan to be like this.
c. The dividing line between words implied that this line emphasize the problem or the conflict
between the couple. That is why the word net can be interpreted as love or problem or
conflict. The author gives a chance to interpret his poem freely, but he still gives clues that
there is a problem between two persons who love each other by giving line between words.
3. The social issue that can be gleaned from the poem is the writer or the author want to tell
readers that it is common when two persons who love each other get angry and quarrel. But it
will not erase or abolish their love. They may not solve their problem and it can be there will be
another problem coming but they still care each other and that is love actually.

1. Shakespeare describes his sweethearts beauty uncomparable to things in the world. Hechooses
summer to portray how his sweetheart is more beautiful. Because the summer always bring
comfortable feeling, joy, and warm. Although it still cannot compete the beauty of
Shakespeares sweetheart.
2. Inthis poem Shakespeare tries to compare his sweetheart to three things, first, he compares his
sweethearts beauty to summer. As we know, summer always bring happiness nd joyful
activities. It is warm and lovely moments. However it looks awesome, the beauty of his
sweetheart still a winner.
Second, Shakespeare uses eye of heaven, which is actually the sun, to compare his sweethearts
beauty. He thinks that sun usually shines brighter. Unfortunately, the beauty of the sun cannot
reach the beauty of Shakespeares sweetheart.
Third, the most and gorgeous thing in life, Shakespeare tries to compare his sweethearts beauty
to life itself. He thinks that life actually the most precious and valuable one until death is
coming. It implies that if his sweetheart still the beautiful eventhough she is die.
3. Shall I compare thee to a summers day
From this line Shakespeare tries to compete his sweethearts beauty with the summer which is
always changing and not eternal. He believes his sweethearts beauty is the most beautiful one
in the world comparing to summer, eye of heaven, and life.

someday the nature get destruction because of the exploitings effects. The nature can be
dangerous and takes humans life too. Further, the poet wish to go ack to the past when the
nature still virgin and unexploited. The time when human explores he nature properly.
Living in harmony as od has given.
4. This poem reminds me about what happen in my country. We have been known as a
country which has a lot of wood long time ago. We possess so my sources; wood, fish,
animal, oil, coal, gold, etc. Unfortunately, that was an old tory. Today, more than on third of
our wood is disappear because of illegal logging and fire. Our wood gradually cannot
supplies oxygen. Fresh air become something hard to find in our daily life.
Another issue in nature is mining industry. We have a lot of sources but we cannot receive
the benefit of these. It is very ridiculous when we have the best gold mining in the world but
we just receive one percent from the result.
I think in my country it comes to be the hot issues because so many people think that we
should be a great country with all those nature. May God saves ur our country.

ANALECTS
1. A."When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don't adjust the goal, adjust the
action steps"
In my opinion, this quote was similar to my experience. It was telling us to change our
strategies and way to succeed rather than change our goals. If we believe, we can make it.
We just have to modify our way and tricks to reach our dream.
My experience:
Civil servants are one of the favorite jobs in Indonesia. It is caused of its guarantee of
stable financial. Civil servants will get salary every month and additional subsidy. In this
case, teachers are the most popular jobs for this luxurious.
Like other people, I decided to join the test to change my future. My purpose was better
life and status. So, I prepared the administration neatly. Then the test held on end
November 2008, that was four months after I have married. I was married on July 6
th
, 2008. I
very excited to have a test. I believed it would be my bright future.
In short, I have taken the test. I did not feel that I could do the test well, but I ignored
that feeling and pretended that I was a lucky man. I was sure that I would pass the test. I
lived as usual and thought all would be fine.
Finally, the government released the qualified candidates after one month, and I was
not there. It felt out of breath. I did not know what actually happened. In a nutshell, I was
desperate.
I cried and felt that life was not fair. I was afraid that my future would go nowhere. My
wife tried to comfort me. She told me it might be Gods will to make us pass the test
together next year. I reacted that bad and was angry with her. I thought she did not know
that I was under pressured.
I just lay in the bed in a room that we rented from an old woman lady. I thought what
my wife has said. It might be Gods will. I have taken that test alone because my wife failed
to complete the administration. She was pregnant at that time. Yes, it might be Gods will. I
convinced myself and got up from the bed. I went to the kitchen to meet my wife, she
cooked some meal for me. I approached her and said to her. You are right. It may be Gods
will. We will take the test together next year and we will pass the test together.
I lived with a goal in my mind to be reached. But I did not want to make the same
mistake as before. I prepared all administration for us more neatly. We studied hard for the
test next year. We tried to answer at least ten questions every night before sleep.
Sometimes we forget the answer of the question that we have answered the day before.
But we did not want it would block our spirit to succeed. We re-read all those questions and
answers. We did it every day in one year. Very tiring and exhausting routine.
One year has passed. The test would be held on November 2009. Yes, we have waited
this moment. We submitted all administration that I have prepared long before. We have
passed the administration test easily. Then we have to take the written test as I faced one
year ago. I little bit worried if I could not pass the test. I pushed myself to remember my
wife and six month baby. I have to fulfill their needs and better future. I believed that I
would make it happen.
After waiting the announcement around one month, finally the government released
the qualified candidates. Similar a fairy tale, we have passed all the test smoothly. We have
accepted as civil servants in the teacher position after struggling for one year with questions
and answers.

B.You cannot open a book without learning something
I think it is all about education. That quotation means education is very important. It is a
process, very long necessary process. That is why we heard about Longlife learning, the
passion to satisfy ourselves to learn.
My experience:
I am teacher and teaches English in vocational high school. I officially being a teacher on
January 2010 after passing the civil servant test at the end of 2009. It was a very
unforgettable moment in my life. I teach the lowest grade because I am new and
inexperienced.
Initially, it was annoying when my senior fellow teachers looked down on me. I thought
why they did not help me to adapt the situation. They should guide me. I mean they were
seniors. They should help the newcomer.
I through my first year in a very hesitation teaching process. I lost a lot of vocabulary
since I graduated from my college in 2007. It means that I have not practiced English for
three years before I have taken the test of civil servants. How come I passed the civil
servants test and become a teacher if I have not practiced English for three years? It was
aptitude and psychological tests. All the test in Bahasa Indonesia, no wonder I could pass the
test and become a qualified candidate for civil servants.
Then, I realize something. I have good innate source actually. All I have to do is
improving my English skills and study harder to pursue my left behind. Next, in the end of
my second year as a teacher, I decided to enroll in graduate school. I borrow some money
from my parents to make it come true. It was a lot of money even though I have my own
salary from the government.
Yes, on July 2012 I entered private mediocre graduate school major in English Language
Teaching. It was very exciting. I studied and learnt a lot. So many insights and knowledge
were shared by so many experienced professors. I thank God for this blessing.
I remember what my wife said that it might be Gods will. I do believe that. So, I do my
best and remain the rest belong to God. I thought it was an implementation of my belief in
free will. And then the further blessing was coming. I applied scholarship program from the
government in the early 2013. I met the requirement test and awarded scholarship at
reputable state university on full allowances. This blessing brings me to higher knowledge
level and an opportunity to study abroad in a reputable private university in Angeles City
Philippine.
2. The message from Analects by Confucius is we, as a human, have to be a good person. Some
people say that it is nice to be important person, but it is important to be a nice person.
Additionally, we can see that Confucius teaches us how to see and face the world. His good
manners teaching gives a good example for us. It leads us to the good way of life.
What Confucius has taught is not a religion. It was a compilation of his way of thinking
that have been captured by his students. It was a great legacy of civilization. Since people
need guidances in order to avoid mistakes and wrong way in facing life.
His teaching full of wisdom and goodness. For example, how we should behave to the
elder, how we should respect the younger, how should students honor the teachers, and
many more. Last, the main message from the Analects by Confucius is just be a good person
whatever your position or your social status.
