AS MAGIGING handa na sa mga bagyo ang

mga tao sa lalawigan dahil sa sarili nilang
solar-powered na weather stations.

Pinuri ng Department of the

Interior and Local Government
(DILG) ang League of Provinces
of the Philippines dahil sa
paglalagay nito ng automated
weather station (AWS) sa bawat

probinsya sa bansa.
Ang mga AWS na kumukuha
ng kuryente mula sa araw ay
nagbabantay sa masasamang
papawirin na dumadaan sa mga
lokalidad o lalawigan.

Magkatuwang ang liga ng

mga lalawigan at ang Weather
Philippines Foundation, isang
non-governmental organization,
sa paglalagay ng mahigit 400
AWS na kayang magbantay sa
temperatura, takbo ng ihip ng
hangin, bilis nito, at presyon.
Hinimok ni Interior Secretary
Mar Roxas ang mga lokal na
opisyal na makiisa sa communications training para lubusang

magamit ang mga AWS.

human as live-action
characters.
Drax, meanwhile,
is surprisingly eloquent, and Gamora
has compassion, despite being trained in
several galactic martial arts by killers.

Formidable foes
Their main antagonists are the madman
Ronan the Accuser
(Lee Pace) and the cyborg Nebula (Karen
Gillan). Both actors
portray the
formidable foes with
panache and grit. The
latter has less screen

time and development, though, but

hopefully that will be
rectified in future stories. There is already
a sequel being
planned and Gunn is
slated to return as director.
Guardians also
connects nicely to the
bigger picture. Characters last seen in the
end-credit extras of
Avengers and the Thor
sequel get more
screen time here, cementing a more immense mythology
with all the cosmic
details that it finally
explains. And it has
been reported that
the team will connect
with the premier Marvel team in the third
Avengers movie, many
years from now, so
things will definitely
get bigger.
For now, its retromix tape music,
quirky humor, dazzling imagery and
witty repartee combine into a fun, fearless movie. Space is
just the latest frontier
for Marvel, and we
cant wait to see
whats next. Theres a
surprisingif polarizingscene after the
end credits that
matches the
strangeness of the
film perfectly.

awesome feeling to
c o m p l e t e t h e c h a llenge while connecting with the people of
Malaysia.

Camiguin was one of
t h e a b s o l u t e h i g hlights of their trip.
Its just so beautiful
that it totally blew us

very small island, but

Pacific Juan for Fun
B a c k p a c k e r C h a llenge, Year 3.
The UP Diliman
Physics majors
clinched the top
scores in a series of
thrilling tasks and adventurous dares, besting four other university teams from across
the Philippines.
This year, for the
first time ever, Cebu
Pacific brought the
Juan for Fun teams to
an international adventure, as the challenged kicked off in
K u a l a L u m p u r,
Malaysia. The nineday, six-city adventure
continued in Bacolod,
Cebu, Camiguin, Cagayan de Oro and culminated in Manila.
During the course
of the challenge, the
teams were tasked to
accomplish the most
number of fun and exciting activities in
each destination,
maximizing their travel allowance of 800

Floyd added: Our
Juan for Fun experience showed us that
there are a lot of
beautiful places that
are just waiting to be
explored, and thats
exactly what we plan
to do in the future.
