Craig, Austin. Lineage, Life and Labors of Jose Rizal: Philippine Patriot. Yonkers-on-Hudson World
Book Company, 1914.

The book talked about the detailed facts about Rizals life, and even his lineage and the life
before he was born which had greatly influenced his life as time goes by. It was told in the book that
Rizal came from a Chinese ancestor named Lam-co, who was also an important person during his
time. Such fact is an example of a part of the book that was discussed in detailed in order to give a
better understanding of the environment in which Rizal lived and labored in his time.

Zaide, Gregorio F. & Zaide, Sonia M. Jose Rizal: Life, Works, and Writings of a Genius, Writer,
Scientist, and National Hero 2
nd
Edition. All-Nations Publishing Co., Inc., 1999.

Just like other biographies, this book explained the life of Jose Rizal but in a simple and
amazing way. We get to know the heros life and then be inspired and appreciate his other works
more. Issues and controversies of Rizal before were carefully explained in the book.

Guerrero, Leon Maria. The First Filipino. Guerrero Publishing, 2007.
This biography of Jose Rizal was amazingly written by Guerrero; like he was telling a fictional
story to the readers. He started the book with an introduction and experiences of the Last Spaniard,
who became the antagonist of the First Filipino, Jose Rizal. The book is not just an account of Rizal's
life, but there is also analysis of each of his work. In the last chapter of the book, it was mentioned
that Rizal was the first to taught countrymen that they could be something else: Filipinos.

Capino, D.G., Gonzalez, M.M. & Pineda, F.E. Rizals Life, Works and Writings: Their Impact to Our
National Identity. JMC Press, 1977.

This book does not only tell us about Jose Rizals life and works but it also talks about what
he has left to his Filipino people, his legacies. His works were analyzed and found to have moral,
educational, and intellectual legacies that will help us understand and become the better person
Jose Rizal wanted us to be, for the betterment of ourselves and for our country. Rizals journey into
being a national leader was also mentioned in this book, which proved to be that his duty is to the
country.

Ocampo, Ambeth R. Rizal Without the Overcoat. Anvil Publishing, Inc., 2000.

The book is a collection of articles of Ocampo. This book is distinctly unique than other
books since it tells about the more human side of Jose Rizal; what a usual Filipino would do. It
presented Rizal without the overcoat of the European influence which is because he has undergone
a European education. Its the kind of book where youve got to find out what Jose Rizal had this
morning for breakfast, what happened to his love lives and etc.
