    Welcometomyclass.Therearethreerulesthateveryoneisexpectedtofollow.

    1.Cometoclassontimeandprepared.

    2.Classtimeisforclassworkonly.

    3.Disrespectwillnotbetolerated.

    Rulebreakerswillreceiveawarningontheirfirstoffense.Secondoffensewillresultina60
    minutedetention.Thirdoffense,a90minutedetention,andfourthoffense,anofficereferral.
    Thisdoesnotapplytoanygrossorflagrantviolationofschoolrules(fighting,threatsofviolence,
    opendefiance,profanity,etc.)Suchoffenseswillresultinanimmediateofficereferral.

    ThisparticularclassisdesignedtoprepareyoufortheAdvancedPlacementhistoryprogram,
    whichwillbeavailableforyoutotakeinhighschool.YoucanlearnmoreabouttheAPprogram

    SincethisisapreAPcourse,theexpectationsandrequirementsaremuchdifferentthanthey
    wouldbeinageneralcourse.Ifatanytime,youfeelthatthecourseworkisoverwhelmingyou,
    pleasecometalktome,andwewilldiscussyoursituationandwhatyouroptionsare.Mygoalis
    tohelpyousucceed.Iamavailablefortutoringeverydayfrom7:007:20AM.

    Thecoursework

    ThecourseisdesignedtoprovideyouwithskillsyouwillneedtobesuccessfulinAPclasses.
    Theseskillsaresubdividedintofourcategories:Thought,Inquiry,Production,andManagement.
    Youwilllearnhow(notwhat)tothinkaboutthings,howandwhatkindofquestionstoask,howto
    organizeandpresentyourthoughtsandwhatyouvelearned,andhowtomanageyourtimeand
    resources.

    Testswillcountas60%ofyourgrade,Dailygrades,quizzesandjournalswillcountas40%.
    Gradesareasfollows:
    A=10090%
    B=8980%
    C=7970%
    D=6960%
    F=59%andbelow

    MakeupWork(fromtheLCSDStudentHandbook):
    Allworkmustbemadeupforanyabsence.Makeupworkistheresponsibilityofthestudent.
    Workmustbemadeupwithinareasonabletime,asdefinedbytheteacher.Ifthestudenthas
    anextendedillness,he/she(orparentsorguardian)mustobtainassignmentsfromtheschool
    andmakeupworkearly.
