From NCR: WASHINGTON A U.S. military strike on Syria would be an abuse of power that should be
condemned and rejected, the global leader of the Jesuit order of Catholic brothers and priests has
said.
Jesuit Fr. Adolfo Nicola s, who leads the some 17,000 member order that counts among its ranks Pope
Francis, adds his voice to a chorus of Catholic prelates around the world sharply criticizing the attack in an
interview made public Wednesday.
With all respect for the people of the United States, I think that a military intervention like the one being
planned is itself an abuse of power, states Nicola s in the interview. The US has to stop acting and reacting
like the big boy of the neighborhood of the world. This leads inevitably to abuse, harassment and bullying
of the weaker members of the community.
Nicols, a native Spaniard whose superior general role in the past has been referred to as the
black pope because of its inluence around the world, also says such a military strike would question
the authenticity of the United States Christian heritage.
Before critiquing the proposed U.S. strike in Syria, Nicola s says he does not usually make comment on
political situations, but that in the present case we are dealing with a Humanitarian situation that
exceeds all the limits that would ordinarily keep me silent.source National Catholic Reporter

Looks like I am not that crazy after all.There has always been a battle between Esaus
decendents and Jacobs decendents.Children of the dark vs the children of the

As a Pro Life activist in Ft Collins, Colo I have rubbed shoulders among many of the Roman
Catholic Faithful and have no doubt will throughout all Eternity. I refer to them as my Pesky
Pro life Papist friends. I have a box of books, CDs, DVDs and literature I give away at the
hood. The Pesky Papists are always trying to convert me by dropping their books, Rosaries,
testimoial DVDs etc into it. I get a big charge out of asking my Catholic Bashing friends if they

At Planned Parenthood Saturday I was talking with a Non Catholic professor who has been
praying with me almost every week. We looked along the sidewalk at the many Roman
Catholics (Several on bended knee) fervently praying. We were greatly outnumbered by the
Catholic faithful. He voiced great disapointment and sorrow that there were not more Non
Catholics there. I said It makes you wonder who the REAL Whore of Babylon is doesnt it? I
applaud the faithfulness ALL Brothers and Sisters who obey Proverbs 31:8 Open your mouth
for the speechless, for the cause of all who are appointed to die. Also Proverbs 24:11-12

year old who was severely injured in a motor cycle accident. He is almost a paraplegic and has
some brain damage. He is a smart and really lovable kid. And a Christian. I found out he has
trouble reading because his eyesight is damaged so I bought him an Ipod with the whole Bible
and room for a couple hundred songs to be downloaded. He said he takes it everywhere he
goes. When Jesus calls you on the phone its time to leap into action! I dearly love this kid.
Please pray the Lord will make Himself more and more vital to him. That he will become a
prayer warrior.

to see . Within a 50 m radius its really bad. they just evacuated a canyon to a resort town, it
looded back in the 70s and many died. The Lake at the Resort water goes into the Canyon and

expensive, also. I highly recommend a central system, heat pump. It should cut the power in
half. Saving in a about 3 to 4 years will pay for itself. I have 17 years as a HVAC contractor. A
good duct system is the key, more so than the brand unit. spend more money on duct for better
quality and savings and performance. Filters are much cheaper than service calls, also. Change
often according to manufactures recommendations.

the rebels. Two rebel groups, though, say the arms have yet to reach them.
Meanwhile, a Vladimir Putin-penned editorial in The New York Times has at least one White House
oficial saying its an indication the Russian president is now fully invested in Syrias chemical
disarmament. And a U.N. report says that both sides the regime and the rebels have
committed war crimes in Syrias bloody 2-year-old civil war.Here are the ive things to pay attention
to today.
1. Giving peace a chance
As the diplomatic focus shifts to Geneva, the talks get down to the nuts and bolts of how to identify,
verify and ultimately destroy the Syrian regimes chemical weapons stockpile, a senior State
Department oficial told CNN. Expect the sessions to last two or three days. A inal deal may take
much longer, but the State Department says the United States is looking for a credible and authentic
way forward that is veriiable and that can happen expeditiously.
Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov have talked nine times since an August 21
chemical weapons attack in Syria that prompted the U.S. to urge military action against the regime.
U.S., British and French diplomats also are hashing over similar matters in New York.
A senior State Department oficial says the Syrian opposition is not pleased about recent
developments. Theyre upset, the oficial says They dont trust this at all.
These are complicated matters with competing interests. Expect any inal deal to go to the U.N.
Security Council to be put into a formal resolution.
And to add to the intrigue, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius says the U.N. report on last
months attack will probably be published Monday. And there will certainly be indications that the
attack originated with Syrian President Bashar al-Assads regime, he said in a radio interview
Thursday.
Looming over the talks is the military strike card that President Barack Obama continues to hold. He
asked Congress this week to put the authorization on hold, but the card isnt going back in the deck
just yet.
This is the way that diplomacy works, said former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, who was

Americas top diplomat in the Clinton administration. You use the threat of the use of force to get
some action in diplomacy, and then diplomacy just to igure out what you do about the threat of the
use of force.
Still, some say it doesnt give the White House a lot of wiggle room.
If diplomacy fails, hes painted himself into a corner, said Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina.
The leader of the free world cant say all these things at the end of the day and do nothing.
2. Rebels and their guns
These things dont happen quickly. It was back in June that oficials familiar with the matter told
CNN that the United States planned to send small arms, ammunition and, potentially, anti-tank
weapons to Syrias rebels. Concerns about who the White House could trust kept the process on the
slow track. But no more.
Funded and organized by the CIA, the weapons began reaching moderate Syrian rebels two weeks
ago, a U.S. oficial tells CNN.
A coordinated effort is being made among the many supporters of the moderate opposition to get
them the assistance they need, Kerry said during a Google+ Hangout discussion this week.
Not so, opposition groups said Thursday. The Syrian National Coalition and the Free Syrian Army
deny they have received weapons.
We have some promises from the U.S. administration of shipment of weapons in a short period of
time, but until now we have not received any, said Louay al-Mokdad, the Free Syrian Army political
and media coordinator.
Were waiting to see what the White House has to say about that.
3. Other government business
Obamacare. Government funding. An energy eficiency bill. Relieved of an impending vote on
whether to give the president the authorization to attack Syria, Congress is moving on to other
matters.
Yet, Syria continues to bubble under the surface.
Congress will be watching these negotiations very closely, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid
warns. If there is any indication theyre not serious or theyre being used as a ploy to delay, then
Congress stands ready to return to a resolution that would authorize a military strike on Syria.
Whether the votes are there to approve such a resolution is another matter.

leaders. He challenges Obama across the board.
He says striking Syria would kill innocent people, spread violence across the region and cloud other
Middle East peace efforts. It would also unleash a new wave of terrorism. He said skipping the
United Nations to go it alone would constitute an act of aggression.
The sarin gas attack? Thats in there too.
While Obama squarely puts the blame for the alleged sarin attack on the Assad regime, Putin writes,
There is every reason to believe it was used not by the Syrian army, but by opposition forces to
provoke intervention by their powerful foreign patrons, who would be siding with the
fundamentalists.
Not a lot of middle ground as talks start in Geneva.
Democratic Sen. Robert Menendez of New Jersey said the piece made him almost want to throw up.
Putin ended with a swipe at Obama, with a reference to the Tuesday night address in which the
president said that while America cant be a global cop, it ought to act in certain situations.
Thats what makes us exceptional, Obama said. With humility, but with resolve, let us never lose
sight of that essential truth.
Putins answer to that?

But the administrations reaction was to brush it off.
A senior White House oficial says its all irrelevant, suggesting that Putin is already all in when it
comes to forcing Syria to give up its chemical weapons.
Putin now owns this, the oficial added of the Russian plan to have Syrias leadership give up its
chemical weapons. He has fully asserted ownership of it, and he needs to deliver.
Lets see if he does.
Here are the ive things to pay attention to today.
1. Giving peace a chance
As the diplomatic focus shifts to Geneva, the talks get down to the nuts and bolts of how to identify,
verify and ultimately destroy the Syrian regimes chemical weapons stockpile, a senior State

Department oficial told CNN. Expect the sessions to last two or three days. A inal deal may take
much longer, but the State Department says the United States is looking for a credible and authentic
way forward that is veriiable and that can happen expeditiously.
Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov have talked nine times since an August 21
chemical weapons attack in Syria that prompted the U.S. to urge military action against the regime.
U.S., British and French diplomats also are hashing over similar matters in New York.
A senior State Department oficial says the Syrian opposition is not pleased about recent
developments. Theyre upset, the oficial says They dont trust this at all.
These are complicated matters with competing interests. Expect any inal deal to go to the U.N.
Security Council to be put into a formal resolution.
And to add to the intrigue, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius says the U.N. report on last
months attack will probably be published Monday. And there will certainly be indications that the
attack originated with Syrian President Bashar al-Assads regime, he said in a radio interview
Thursday.
Looming over the talks is the military strike card that President Barack Obama continues to hold. He
asked Congress this week to put the authorization on hold, but the card isnt going back in the deck
just yet.
This is the way that diplomacy works, said former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, who was
Americas top diplomat in the Clinton administration. You use the threat of the use of force to get
some action in diplomacy, and then diplomacy just to igure out what you do about the threat of the
use of force.
Still, some say it doesnt give the White House a lot of wiggle room.
If diplomacy fails, hes painted himself into a corner, said Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina.
The leader of the free world cant say all these things at the end of the day and do nothing.
2. Rebels and their guns
These things dont happen quickly. It was back in June that oficials familiar with the matter told
CNN that the United States planned to send small arms, ammunition and, potentially, anti-tank
weapons to Syrias rebels. Concerns about who the White House could trust kept the process on the
slow track. But no more.
Funded and organized by the CIA, the weapons began reaching moderate Syrian rebels two weeks
ago, a U.S. oficial tells CNN.
A coordinated effort is being made among the many supporters of the moderate opposition to get
them the assistance they need, Kerry said during a Google+ Hangout discussion this week.
Not so, opposition groups said Thursday. The Syrian National Coalition and the Free Syrian Army
deny they have received weapons.
We have some promises from the U.S. administration of shipment of weapons in a short period of
time, but until now we have not received any, said Louay al-Mokdad, the Free Syrian Army political
and media coordinator.
Were waiting to see what the White House has to say about that.
3. Other government business
Obamacare. Government funding. An energy eficiency bill. Relieved of an impending vote on
whether to give the president the authorization to attack Syria, Congress is moving on to other

matters.
Yet, Syria continues to bubble under the surface.
Congress will be watching these negotiations very closely, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid
warns. If there is any indication theyre not serious or theyre being used as a ploy to delay, then
Congress stands ready to return to a resolution that would authorize a military strike on Syria.
Whether the votes are there to approve such a resolution is another matter.
But for now, theres a different deadline looming over Congress. If theres no spending plan by early

My initial comment was this.The Roman Catholic Church is the one and only church founded by
Jesus Christ.The other Christian and non Christian churches were founded by fallible man.
With all due respect to the Roman Catholic Faithful I humbly disagree. The Catholic meaning
Universal Church of Jesus Christ is the Body of Christ. My interpretation of it is quite simple.
Jesus is the Head of His Body, the Church. Jesus the Head tells the feet (Part of the body) to go
and they obediently go. Jesus, the Head tells the hands to DO SOMETHING and they do it. He
intsructs the heart to love and it loves.He instructs the heart to break for the things that
break His and Guess what. He instructs the mouth to speakHe instructs the mouth to not
speak and the ears to hear. If the body obeys and supports the head it is the Body of Christ, it
is the Church. If it disobeys and is going a different direction than the head it is not the body of
Christ. It is not the Church. It, I believe, is as simple and as stark as that.
I grew up as a Protestant and was told all the standard stuff that Protestants are taught
about Catholics. Then the Lord convicted my soul of how Abortion is Modern day Child
sacriice and that His Spirit is Horriically grieved as each and every innocent unborn child is
brutally and mercilessly ripped limb from limb and torn from the God ordained Safe Place of
the womb. He instructed me to speak out and act in defense of these incalculably Precious
Children. When I did I discovered that many Catholics were already doing it and had been for a
long time. The Roman Catholics that turn a blind eye and indifferently look the other way or
even support abortion are NOT part of the body of Christ just like Protestants or anyone else
who support it are not a part of the body of Christ.
I do not consider myself Protestant OR Catholic but Christian. I long to be among the number
who follows the Lamb of God whithersoever He goest made up of the Elect of God from every
tongue, tribe, nation and denomination. My eyes have been opened and my Precious Catholic
Brothers and Sisters have demonstrated to me that Jesus did not come to save political parties,
denominations, Popes or generalities but individual SINNERS, one by one.
