Gantt Chart Printing Guide, p.

Printing Microsoft Project Gantt Charts as a Huge Single Page

A Microsoft Project Gantt Chart can be printed a couple of different ways.
You can:
Print it as a stack of pages on any printer, and literally cut and tape the pages
together
Or, follow the steps outlined below to print it in one large piece using a plotter

Please note: Either printing method is totally acceptable for MIS 374. Gantt charts that
are cut and taped are fine if they are easy-to-read (i.e. taped well so they unfold easily).
If, however, youd rather pay for one-piece printing, then read on.

How to Print Gantt Charts in One Piece

There are 2 major steps involved in printing a Gantt chart in one piece:
1. Prepare your Gantt chart as a PDF
2. Take your file to a printing lab to be printed

Step 1: Preparing Your Gantt Chart as a PDF:
You can prepare a Gantt chart for plotter printing in the Millennium Lab. There should
be two media desktops in the back-left corner where the scanners are that you could
use since they have Adobe Acrobat Professional installed. If for some reason you cant
access these computers or get AA Professional, CutePDF is free to download and will
also create the pdf you need. Once you are logged in, open your Gantt chart in
Microsoft Project and follow these instructions.

1.1 Select Gantt Chart View

1.3 Change the Printer to AdobePDF

1.4 Change the paper size to ARCH E (36 x 48) so you can fit the
whole Gantt Chart on one page.

1.5 Open Page Setup and choose Fit to : 1 pages wide 1 tall

Check the preview to make sure your chart is only on one page.
1.5.1 If you are missing columns or arent showing any tasks completed see
Gantt Chart Tips on the Resources class web page in the Planning
section.
1.5.2 If you have mysterious black and blue lines in strange places, see p. 6 of
this Guide.

1.6 Once you click print, the Gantt chart will be exported as an Adobe PDF
file. Adobe will automatically open the chart after it is exported. The PDF file
will automatically save to your My Documents folder unless you specified
another folder. Save the file on a flash drive.

Step 2: Printing Your Gantt Chart PDF:

Take your pdf file on a flash drive to one of the FedEx Kinkos locations.

The cost to print at Kinkos is usually between $6-$8.

Possible Problem: Gantt Chart PDF contains trash lines

Some past teams have had mysterious black and blue lines across the pdf of the Gantt
chart when they use Adobe. A solution is to use CutePDF or Microsoft XPS Document
Writer (which is built into Windows).
