INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT) I

General Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of his/her Personal
Entrepreneurial Competencies (PECs), the environment and
market as well as the process/production and delivery of
quality products in ICT (PC Operation).

STAGE 1
Content Standard:
The learner demonstrates understanding of the process
and delivery in Basic Operations
Performance Standard:
The learner:

determining the resources needed to produce/
render a marketable product in Basic PC

Essential Understanding:
An efficient application of the 4 Ms of production helps
one create/produce a saleable service.

A good marketing strategy helps position a
product/service in the market and to differentiate them
from competitors.

A sound record-keeping helps in communicating the
results of business operations.

Creating a marketable service derive from PC operations is
influenced by the needs and wants of people and
industries in a community.

Adherence to the correct process flow helps maintain the
operation of a PC.

STAGE 3

Teaching/Learning sequence:

Computers have become a useful part of our everyday lives. The types of computers we use at home or at work are
referred to by varied names such as PCs, microcomputer, workstations, laptops, and desktops. These computers are
most commonly referred to as personal computers or PC. PCs are the most common type of computer in the world.
Today, an average person uses computer-based assistance several times each day and it becomes an integral part of
our lives. It is important to be aware of and understand them. Hence, the learners shall:

1. EXPLORE
Guide learners in assessing their prior knowledge and skill in PC Operations using:
Paper and pencil test
Performance test

Orient learners on the following
CP-TLE curriculum framework- ICT 1
Assessment tools and criteria
- 6 Facets of Understanding/Performance
- Scoring Rubrics

Guide learners in understanding the concepts and underlying principles of process and delivery in PC Operations
Lead learners through the checklist to verbalize their understanding of the following concepts:
Legal form of business ownership
Legal requirements and regulations
Start-up capital
Business location
Store layout

Assist learners in tracing the history of computer and types of computer.
Guide learners in viewing pictures/video presentations of the components of a computer system, hardware and
peripherals, software, and peopleware.
Assist learners in raising issues and concerns related to:
Data processing cycle;
Critical information and techniques on keyboarding;
Access and exploration of OS;
Management of files and folders;
Built-in application of a PC;
Installation of application;
Utilization of a printer; and
The production of quality product and/or rendering quality service

Guide learners in observing how a computer shop in the community operates to produce quality products and/or
render quality service.

2. FIRM-UP
In order to firm up their understanding, have learners view video presentations of a functional PC. (CONTENT OF
THE VIDEO: The video should detail the step-by-step procedure in connecting, installing, uninstalling, and
configuring the hardware and software components of a PC).
Process learners understanding of the video presentation; guide questions may be given to focus learners
understanding.
Have learners apply/follow the correct procedures in assembling a PC, appropriate to the given job order.
Assist learners in Interviewing a computer technician/Internet Caf assistant on the importance of the following

the procedural requirements in rendering quality service and/or creating a marketable product:
connecting, installing, uninstalling, and configuring the hardware and software components of a PC
accessing and exploring the OS
managing files and folders
installing applications
formatting a simple document for printing
proper handling and maintenance of tools, instruments and computer software
appropriateness and quality of materials used

Check learners initial understandings of the concepts in PC Operations.
Have learners prepare an interview guide to focus the discussion on the aforementioned factors.
Have learners perform processes involved in rendering quality service and/or creating marketable product based
on job order.
Have learners self-assess their products and performances using the given assessment tools and criteria in Stage 2.

3. DEEPEN
Invite successful Internet Caf Assistant/Computer technician to talk about their best practices.
Have learners ask questions on how these entrepreneurs/individuals managed to hone their skills.
Encourage learners to observe /work with successful Internet Caf Assistant/Computer technician in the
community.
Guide learners in adopting the best practices of successful Internet Caf Assistant/Computer technician.
Have learners track their progress using accomplishment record.

4. TRANSFER
Have learners render quality service and/or create marketable products.
Have learners put up a display/exhibition of various products derive from PC operations.
Have learners market their products/services in the community.
Assess learners at the level of performance using the criteria in Stage 2.
