RE : PROJECT JOBSFIT MULTI-STAKEHOLDER REGIONAL

CONSULTATION

DATE : 05 July 2013
x----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------x

In 2009, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) initiated a
labor market signaling study dubbed as Project JobsFit: DOLE 2020
Vision. The result of which has been carried out in our programs to
provide efficient employment facilitation services and respond to the
prevailing job-skill mismatch in an effort to address structural
unemployment.

There have been major changes on the current trends in the labor market
since the study was conducted. Thus, the DOLE - National Capital Region
is in the process of reviewing and updating the skills and demand profile
in of key employment generators in Metro Manila through a consultation
with the government and private sector stakeholders.

The Aviation Industry has been identified as one of the priority sectors in
the medium and long-term Philippine Development Plan. This sector has
the most hard to fill positions based on the 2009 Project JobsFit result.

In view of this, may we invite you the Project JobsFit Multi-Stakeholder
Regional Consultation on July 10, 2013 at 9:00 AM, Ichikawa Hall,
Occupational Safety and Health Center, Science Road, Diliman, Quezon
City. We would like to listen to your valuable insights/inputs and would
highly appreciate your active participation during the workshop to:

1. Update the list of key employment generators (KEGs) and
emerging industries in
Metro Manila and identify their corresponding skills
requirements
2. Assess the availability of present and projected in-
demand skills;
3. Determine the hard to fill occupations and skills surplus;
4. Identify current labor market issues and gaps.

We count on our partners in the private sector as we work hand in hand
in providing relevant labor market information to the public in our
pursuit to improve the employment situation of our country.

Thank you very much.
