Test results:
The motor drive protective housing was tested according to the protection
requirements of IP 66 according to IEC 60529, sub-clause 13.4 and
sub-clause 14.2.6.
The test for the first characteristic numeral 6 and the test for the second
characteristic numeral 6 were successfully completed, thus the
protection requirements of IP 66 according to IEC 60529 are fulfilled for
the motor drive protective housing types L and S.
The requirements of IEC 60214-1:2003 were met.

Test specification
The type test was performed in accordance with IEC 60214-1:2003 Tap-changers - Part 1: Performance
requirements and test methods,
- sub-clause 6 Requirements for motor drive mechanisms for on-load tap-changers, sub-clause 6.2
Type tests, sub-clause 6.2.3 Degree of protection of motor-drive cubicle,
- sub-clause 8 Requirements for motor drive mechanisms for off-circuit tap-changers, sub-clause 8.2
Type tests , sub-clause 8.2.3 Degree of protection of motor-drive cubicle.

3.
Scope of application
The type test was carried out on a motor drive protective housing size L. This variant is longer than size
S. All other characteristics are identical to size S, e.g. the same profile of the cover gasket, the same
outline of the cover, the same number of screwed joints, the same transmission gear unit and the same
ventilation.
Due to the cover of the motor drive protective housing of size L has a larger faying surface than size S
and resulting into a longer distance between the hinges and locking levers, testing of size L is more
critical then testing of size S.
Therefore this type test report is valid for the motor drive protective housing size L and size S.

The test is made by spraying the enclosure from all practicable
directions with a stream of water from a standard test nozzle.
No penetration of water.
Tests performed
5.1 Test for first characteristic numeral 6 (protection against access to hazardous parts)
The test was carried out in a dust chamber with underpressure using talcum powder according to
IEC 60529, sub-clause 13.4, category 1 enclosures:
Underpressure inside the
protective housing:
Extraction rate:
Test duration:
19 mbar
0.25 enclosure volumes / hour
8h
Results:
No talcum dust penetrated into the enclosure of the test specimen. The access to the hazardous parts
with an access probe was not possible.
5.2 Test for second characteristic numeral 6 (protection against water)
This test was carried out with spray water according to IEC 60529, sub-clause 14.2.6:
Water delivery rate:
Internal diameter of the nozzle:
Test duration:
100 l/min
12.5 mm
3 min
Results:
No water penetrated into the enclosure of the test specimen.
