TALKBACK SYSTEM
The ICE-500 series command giving Talkback system is essential for clear communications when giving orders
during mooring situations. System can also be used for crew calling purpose and to access a Public Address
(PA) system. In the Command Talkback system, it is always the master only that controls the orders. The sub-
stations can talkback as reply to the orders through speaker-microphones. It is possible to have additional par-
allel command microphones in other locations in the bridge area, like Bridge Wings. The master can connect any
combination of substation lines at the same time to give simultaneous orders.
According to SOLAS/IMO rules it is mandatory to have a Talkback system installed on most types of vessels.

ICE-500 system has line capabilities up to 20 substations. Master station is also equipped with an alpha numeric
status display, backlit keypad, dimmer, volume control, integrated loudspeaker and a standard PA output.
The master station models ICE-505 / ICE-510 / ICE-515 / ICE- 520 with 5, 10, 15, or 20 substations.

Substations for cabins are fitted with additional TALK button to comply with the mandatory privacy function.
In noisy areas it is recommended to use substation with headset and external signal, like a siren or flash beacon.
For outdoor deck a call button box and a horn speaker is a simple and reliable solution. Hands-free talkback is
possible through the loudspeaker. All substations are fitted with a CALL button to notify the Master when they
need to be connected.
