From the Pastor
Greetings Sisters and Brothers,
"God's work. Our hands". The ELCA iscalling all itscongregations toparticipate ina
nationwide event on September 7, 2014. This was the discussion at our J uly
Community Roundtable. We discussed how we could participate inthis event with
those that have limited time and those with physical chaflenges. So, we decided that
our participation would be by spreading the gospel through song.
On Sept. 7, we will be traveling after worship to Peterson Rehabilitation Center at
2:00 pmto have worship and sing hymns. It was one way that everyone, regardless
of age, canjoin together and participate as one inthe body of Christ. Now, as for
those that are concerned about their singing voice, they do have the option to
participate indriving the van, greeting people, or being apresence tothose that are
residents.
We will be ordering shirts with our congregation's name and encourage you tobring a
friend or someone that you know whowould enjoy this event. They will be provided
with ashirt just give usthe size they prefer. We will have worship_at our regular time
at 11:00 am. Our singing performance will be conducted by our Music Director, Mike
Oliver, and we will be traveling after fellowship.
I pray that we can continue to seek ways that go beyond our doors into the
community toshare and proclaim God's word to all people. I believe that our Music
Festival did just that onJ uly 12, 2014. Never have we could imagined folks walking
intoour parking lot and up tothe fence to hear music giving praise toour God. For
those that brought friends and family, thank you! This event did exactly what we were
hoping it would do, and that was toget usoutside of our doors sothat we could invite
the community. We donot want toany longer be abuilding sitting onthe corner, but a
physical presence of the church which isthe people.
I would like togive aspecial thanks toall the musicians that played and inspired us,
especially, "Render the Hearts." They provided and ranthe sound equipment all day,
performed wonderfully, and led usinsong inour worship onSunday. Also, thanks to
all those that worked sohard tomake the success of this ministry possible!
To conclude, I must say that I was extremely humbled by the 10 year ordination
celebration that you had for me inJ uly. I was surprised and grateful for all the kind
words, gifts, and the wonderfulluncheon/cake that was provided. I believe that I have
grown as apastor, you asacongregation, and together we enjoy the family that God
has intended for us. Again, thank you for your heartfelt kindness and the continued
ministry that we dotogether for God's glory!
Yours inthe Lord's service,
Pastor Deb
