Dear Parents and Caregivers

Some very positive things are happening at Riverview School!

The Junior Playground behind Rooms 1 4 is now open. This has been a long time in the
planning and we are delighted that our junior children (Years 1 and 2) have this new facility.
We want to express our sincere thanks to the following funding sources:
Previous Bazaar fundraiser ($25,000)
Oxford Sports Trust ($5,000)
PTA ($4,000)
Kerikeri Rotary Club ($500)
The Board of Trustees general account is being used to cover the balance which is
around $4,000.
Thirty seven children from Riverview School took part in the Kids for Kids Music show with
Jackie Clark at the Turner Centre on Monday evening. It was an outstanding show, with
several Riverview students having lead parts. We are very proud of all our children who par-
ticipated.
Today and tomorrow, we have five of our Senior Staff (Mrs Ayr, Mrs Henderson, Mrs Staples,
Mr Kirkland, and Mrs Ross-Taylor) attending an Education Conference in Auckland, offering
the opportunity to think about the big picture of education and the directions in which our
education system is heading.

The Board of Trustees is very keen to have every family respond to the Strategic Planning survey
sent out last week on Survey Monkey https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Z65C6PD . The first question may
have a technical problem. If so, just skip over it as the rest all works fine. Thank you to those who
have already completed this 5 minute survey.

We have included a very useful memo from BDO (The schools auditors) on how you can get a
tax rebate for any money that you donate to our school.

Please remember the Student-led Conferences coming up and be sure to book your times.

MID-TERM BREAK: Please remember that next Friday 22 August is a mid-term break and there is no
school that day. Enjoy a long weekend.

Headlice

It is that time of the year again when head lice
make their appearance. We have had
several sightings on children at our school.

Please check your child/childrens scalp for signs,
and treat them for this complaint. Unfortunately,
those that go untreated only keep the cycle
going.

Any pharmacy will be able to give you advice on
how to treat head lice.

Please do not hesitate to contact the School
office, if you have any further questions.

Last Tuesday we
had our fancy
dress feast and it
was lovely. A feast
is when everyone
brings something
yummy to eat at a
party. I was a fairy princess, Ella S was a
giraffe, and Hira was a vampire. There were
cakes, fruit sticks, and other kinds of food.
Everyone had a great time and we hope youre
having a great time at your new school.

These conferences are scheduled to take place this term; please note that
there have been changes to the original dates due to teachers commitments
and to the inclusion of a Mid-Term Break. The dates and times are:

the same days, but different times.

bookings for the Years 1 & 2 conferences will be done on-line as they follow a
slightly different format. You will receive this information via your child/ren.

These all take place in your childs classroom.

What to expect at Student-led Conferences:
