GUIDELINES FOR
MR TITLES

8-52-0007Rev. 3

1.0

PURPOSE

1.1

The purpose of this document is to define titles for MRs (Material Requisitions) and PRs
(Purchase Requisitions). For convenience however, only MR is used for reference.
This is needed to establish a definite co-relation with Vendor List so that interpreting the title is
not required by someone who is not a specialist in Instrumentation. Strict adherence to the
titles will be necessary.

1.2

This design guide further lists the MR numbers for the titles.

2.0

SCOPE

2.1

This document supplements "Guidelines for MR Numbering" 8-1651-0003, and should be read
in conjunction with it.

2.2

2.3

In this guideline, MR titles and numbers are defined for

a)

Commonly used items with vendor list.

b)

Not Commonly used items with vendor list.

c)

Not commonly used items without vendor list.

The details include Instrumentation, Telemetry - SCADA, Telecommunication groups'

requirements.

4.

DETAILS

4.1

As explained in `Guidelines for MR Numbering' 8-1651-0003, the numbering of Requisitions

(MR or PR) consists of a 15 digit code as follows:
X

10

11

12

13

14

15

E
This details of these are given in that guideline.
In this guideline, the titles and corresponding numbers (digits 11, 12, 13, 14) are given in
detail.
4.2

a)

In some MRs, there is requirement of choices for the types of items included in the
MR. These choices have an implication in vendor selection or method of floating.
These are defined in brackets.

Example:
COPPER TUBES (COATED, BARE)

MR TITLES

b)

DESIGN GUIDE No.

8-52-0007Rev. 3

In the case of choice, user shall list all the required choices. But no unwanted choice
is to be included.
Example:
COPPER TUBE (COATED)
COPPER TUBE (BARE)
COPPER TUBE (COATED, BARE)

only coated
only bare
some coated and some bare are required

It is wrong to put (Choice-1, Choice-2) if one choice is absent in the MR as an item.

Wasted effort may occur in floating to different categories vendors, without response.
4.3
