AB International Studies 3 February 28, 2013 COMPREHENSIVE REFLECTION PAPER
Religious Studies does not simply connote as the study of religion but rather I believe that it is a guiding principle in our life as we continue to seek and strengthen our faith. All the way through I was able to learn primarily the nature of the Church as a mystery and sacrament all along with its mission. Church is not just a particular material building but rather church should be such a home for the people of God. As a mystery, church is permeated with the unseen presence of God, always open to a new and greater exploration and a unique relation to God himself. On the other hand, church is a sacrament since it is both a sacramental sign and an instrument of intimate union with God, and the unity of all mankind. The church existed because of Christs mission which is to build the kingdom of God. Kingdom of God is Eschatological. I was also able to gain knowledge of the essential characteristics of the church life and ministries. I also recognize the means of spiritual growth according to its efficacy are the sacraments, then meritorious good works and the prayer of petition. Finally, I was able to identify, define, and differentiate the seven ritual sacraments of the church and their implications to the Catholics life as a disciple of Christ. Sincerely, all of the subject matters that were discussed and contemplated were all sympathetic to me. I never find any topic that I was less interested to, aside from the fact that all lessons were centred about God; Ive really learned and developed my understanding of faith-seeking through this course. All of the lectures gave me more ideas about the church and its mysticism. Honestly, I really cant enumerate the seven sacraments not until I grant myself in learning, understanding and reflecting all of it through this subject. I realized that the seven sacraments are not just only to be done for the sake of conformity but to a certain extent that it must be considered important and eagerly normal as we are to nurture our Christian life. Through this subject, I was really able to understand the meaning and purpose of my life. When I was still younger, I believe that hearing mass is not really compulsory. It goes against to my own principle that it is tolerable not to hear mass as long as God is in your heart and spirit since if we attend mass, we are only seeing stone images of God. Nonetheless, my spiritual perspective has matured because of the encouragement of this course; to attend mass is not only to be their listening to preach up until sleeping, but instead God requested it and could be a major sin also if not be able to do so. I understand everything. Now, as I continue my journey in life, my faith has turn out to be deeper. I know I would have not experience this life if not because of his love. Thus in return, I will treasure my life and do all my best. I know God loves me and gives all what I want without expressing it. I love and trust Him.
