1.0DurationoftheProgramme
ThepostgraduateprogramleadingtothedegreeofMasterofBusinessAdministrationwillextendovera
periodoffoursemesters[2academicyears];eachsemesterwillhavedurationof75workingdays.
2.0EligibilityForAdmission
2.1)CandidatesforadmissiontothefirstSemesteroftheM.B.A.Degreeprogramshouldhavepassed
anydegree,ofanyuniversityrecognizedbyU.G.C.oranexaminationacceptedbySASTRAasequivalent
thereto.
2.2)SASTRAwillprescribe,fromtimetotime,othereligibilityconditionsregarding:theminimummarks
securedinthequalifyingexaminations,permittednumberofattemptsforobtainingthedegree,
qualifyingperformanceinentrancetests,physicalfitness,etc.
2.3)Thesponsoredcandidatesshouldsatisfytheconditionsregardingsponsorshipthatmaybe
prescribedbySASTRAfromtimetotime.
3.0ProgramStructure
TheM.B.A.programhasacurriculum,withsyllabusconsistingof:
a)Corecourses,whichgiveabroadbaseinthemainfieldofstudyintheacademicprogramconcerned
b)Electivecourseschosenbythestudentinconsultationwiththefacultyadviser
c)Projectworkwherespecialemphasisislaidontheapplicationofknowledgetoreallifeproblems.
d)Theprogramwillalsoincludeseminarsandpracticaltraining,asprescribedbytheBoardofStudiesin
thecurriculum&syllabiandapprovedbyTheAcademicCouncil.
4.0TheCreditSystem
4.1)Eachcoursehasacertainnumberofcreditsassignedtoit,dependinguponitsimportanceandthe
contactperiodsinaweek.
4.2)Alettergrade,correspondingtothemarkssecuredbythestudent,isawardedforeachcoursefor
whichastudenthasregistered.Onobtainingapassgrade,thestudentaccumulatesthecoursecredits
asearnedcredits.Thenumberofcreditsthatthestudenthasearnedandtheweightedgradepoint
averagemeasureastudent'sprogress.Thislettergradingsystemwillbefollowedatalllevelsof
evaluation,namelyclassparticipation,assignments,midtermtest,critiques,casepresentationetc.
5.0CompletionofM.B.A.Programme
5.1)Astudentearnscreditsbypassingcourseseverysemester.Astudent,whohasregisteredforthe
M.B.A.degreeprogram,hastoacquire126creditstobeeligiblefortheawardofthedegree.
5.2)Thecourseswillbeofferedonasemesterpattern.Foreachcoursethatthestudentundergoes
duringasemester,therewillbeacontinuousassessment.Weightswillbegiventoeachactivitysuchas
presentation,classparticipationseminars,midterm&endtermexamsasunder:

CasePresentation 05%
WrittenAnalysisofCase 10%
MidtermExam 25%
EndtermExam 50%
5.3)Studentsshallundertakeaminiprojectworkattheendofthesecondsemesterandamajorproject
attheendofthefourthsemester.Theprojectwork,chosenbythestudentandtheguide,shouldbe
approvedbytheHeadoftheDepartment.Theprojectreportswillbepresentedforgradingtothe
respectivementorsatthebeginningofthethirdsemesterandtheendoffourthsemesterrespectively.
AstudentshouldcompletetheM.B.A.programwithinaperiodof4yearsfromthedateofadmission.
6.0AcademicScheduleofM.B.A.DegreeProgramme
6.1)TheacademiccalendarfortheM.B.A.programmeofSASTRAisgivenbelow.

7.0RequirementsforSuccessfulCompletionofaCourse&EarningCredit
7.1)Studentsmustattendeverylecture,seminarandpracticalclass.However,inordertoprovidefor
illnessandsuchothercontingencies,aminimumattendancepercentagehasbeenprescribedforeach
course.Percentageofattendanceofastudentinacoursewillbethenumberofclassesattendedinthat
coursedividedbythenumberoftheclassesactuallyconductedfromthedateofhisadmissionand
multipliedby100.Astudentcanappearinansemesterexaminationforaparticularcourseonlywhen
hehasputinaminimumattendanceof75%inthatcourse.
7.2)Astudentwhohasnotsatisfiedtheminimumattendancerequirementof75%willnotbeallowedto
appearfortheSemesterexaminationinthatcourse.Insuchacasethestudentwillhavetorepeatthe
courseinthecorrespondingsemesterduringthenextyear,therebylosingoneyear.
7.3)AstudentshouldappearforthesemesterexaminationsinalltheregularCourses(pertainingtothat
semester)inwhichhehassatisfiedtheattendancerequirements.
7.4)AcandidateisconsideredtohavepassedacourseifhesecuresaminimumgradeDinthatcourse.
Inadditiontothisthecandidateshouldsecureatleast50%inthesemesterexaminationforthat
particularcoursetopassacourse.Acandidatewhodoesnotpassacourseduringasemesterwillhave
toreappearforthesemesterexamforthatcoursewheneverofferednextandsecuretheminimum
passingmarkintheexamandalsoaminimumpassinggradeDtakingintoaccountallotherinternal
assessmentgradesalongwithsemesterexammarks.
8.0EvaluationofAcademicPerformance&Promotion
8.1)Coursewisegradesareawardedtothestudentsbyadoptingthefollowingscheme,basedonthe
weightsalreadydiscussedin5.2.
