MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER
Chronological Bible Reading: Ps al m 121- 123; 2 Cori nt hi ans 1
Monday, August 25
Dan. 9: 26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for
himself:
Glorious Master and Merciful Lord:
There was no reason for you to die. You had neither original sin inherited
from Adam, nor actual sin of your own. Death had no claim on you. No one
could have taken your life from you. You yielded yourself and willed to die.
I sinned; you suffered. I offended Gods justice, but Christ satisfied it. Will
you allow me today to help __________ or __________ or any other lost person
understand how rivers of tears, mountains of good works, seas of holy water, and
hills of incense cannot remove their sin? Jesus was cut off for us, and Jesus cut
off Gods wrath from us. Sin was put away forever by his sacrifice.
This is divine justice. Substitution is the only certain ground of forgiveness
from God. I long to make others see Jesus, wearing a crown of thorns and dying
on the cross for them. Love led the Christ to lay down his life for the criminal!
It is not enough for them to admire that spectacle. Help them make a
personal investment in it. Let __________ and __________ take their spot and
lot among the many for whom Christ Jesus gave his life as a ransom.
You stood as my representative to redeem me. I am healed by your stripes.
It is a terrible thing if I fall short of proving my love by not announcing the good
news to others. Let me help lost souls to answer clearly and without mistake as to
their eternal destiny. Sprinkle the blood of reconciliation on them!
If I am trusting in the merit of your death, then I should be joyful at every
remembrance of it. Let gratitude lead me to a higher praise today. Let
thanksgiving lead me to the next level of consecration. It is for Jesus sake I ask
you to make me a soulwinner! Amen.
TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS CROSS
Chronological Bible Reading: Ps al m 124- 126; 2 Cori nt hi ans 2
Tuesday, August 26
2 Cor. 5: 21 For he hath made [Christ] to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we
might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Lord God:
It wasnt right for human eyes to see the lines made on Jesus body by the
engraving tool of the Roman cat-o-nine-tails. It wasnt proper for the revelers
standing by to watch the involuntary convulsions, spasms and contortions of
Jesus sacred frame, while his body was being broken, under the iron rod of
divine wrath, in our place.
Amos 8: 9 And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord GOD, that I will
cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day:
It was right for you to cover him in a blanket of blackness. That way no one
could see all he did or all he bore when he was made sin for us. The darkness tells
me Jesus passion is a great mystery into which I cannot pry. I try to understand it
as substitution, because the language of scripture is explicit about that. Yet does
that cover the whole matter? Surely no human concepts can completely grasp the
whole of this dread, yet divine mystery. My redemption was a work wrought in
total darkness. Why? Because the full, far-reaching meaning and result cannot be
grasped by finite mind.
! Tell me the death of Jesus was a good example, and I can understand that
! Tell me the death of Jesus was a wonderful obedience, and I can see that
! Tell me the death of Jesus was bearing what I should have borneI can
know that and rest my hope of eternal salvation on it!
But do not tell me this is all there is to your cross. Surely, only God knows
the full extent and price of the love of God. Jesus, only you know all you
accomplished when you bowed your head to give up the ghost. Only you know.
WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING
Chronological Bible Reading: Ps al m 127- 129; 2 Cori nt hi ans 3
Wednesday, August 27
Rom. 8: 26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what
we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings
which cannot be uttered.
Holy Spirit:
Help me in my praying. When I do not know what to pray for, when I
myself groan within myself (v 23), then you groan for me, as I would groan if I
knew what to say. You make what is spiritual audible to God, so then my
prayer reaches the ears of Christ who presents it before the Father.
This is the real Kings Speech. I dont even recognize how much I owe
the Spirit when on my knees in prayer. It doesnt matter that I am not eloquent.
It doesnt matter that I do not know what to pray. It doesnt even matter that the
only prayers I can squeeze-out are the silent, liquid kind! Sometimes I pray the
best when I say the least, as long as your Spirit is assisting me.
You have so sweetly enabled me, though I have so often forgotten to thank
you for it. You have so graciously assisted me, though I have so often taken it for
granted and taken the glory for myself. I let the Devil in so much it is a wonder,
Holy Spirit, you have not withdrawn from me.
I do not forget Christs cross, but I also should not forget the Spirits work.
I do not forget what Jesus did for me, but help me always remember what the
Spirit is doing in me.
Was ever love like this, that God should dwell in me? Was ever mercy like
his, that the Spirit should put up with me? Was ever faithfulness like this, that the
multitude of my sins do not drive you away? Was ever power like this, that it
continually overcomes my iniquities and masters all my corruptions? Oh! the love
of the Spirit is what I sing, by whom revival is applied. Amen.
A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING
Chronological Bible Reading: Ps al m 130- 132; 2 Cori nt hi ans 4
Thursday, August 28
Ps a. 116: 1- 2 I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my
supplications. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as
I live.
FATHER, I stretch my hands to Thee, no other help I know;
If Thou withdraw Thyself from me, ah! whither shall I go?
What did Thine only Son endure, before I drew my breath!
What pain, what labor, to secure my soul from endless death!

O Jesus, could I this believe, I now should feel Thy power;
Now my poor soul Thou wouldst retrieve, nor let me wait one hour.
Surely Thou canst not let me die; O speak, and I shall live;
And here I will unwearied lie, till Thou Thy Spirit give.

Author of faith! to Thee I lift my weary, longing eyes:
O let me now receive that gift! My soul without it dies.
The worst of sinners would rejoice, could they but see Thy face:
O, let me hear Thy quickening voice, and taste Thy pardoning grace.

Charles Wesley, 1741

FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY
Chronological Bible Reading: Ps al m 133- 135; 2 Cori nt hi ans 5
Friday, August 29
Rom. 8: 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the
Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
Our Lord and Father:
We thank you Jesus sits on a throne today, just so he can give the order to
make all things new. Thank you for calling us into that newness of life, and
making us part of your eternal purpose and plan to redeem and restore creation.
Eph. 6: 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit,
We dont have to crouch before you in insecurity, because if we just pray in
the Spirit, you cause us to pray according to the will of God. Like with the recent
world convulsions, we tremble at the sight of what you want done; yet there is joy
mixed with it. In living out this eternal purpose you have taught us to
Ps a. 2: 11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
We look to you, and as we pray we want to enter into that holy place that
even the High Priest of Israel dared not come but once a yearand not without
the blood of a lamb. We thank you Lord the veil is rent, and torn in two. There is
an openness to access you spiritually, because each one of us has been made a
king and priest. We are allowed to come boldly to the mercy-seat for mercies.
O God, we kneel before you now in our hearts, and rejoice how you know
exactly what our heart would say if our mind knew the will of God perfectly. That
is what we wantthat thing we cannot quite put into words because our
understanding cannot quite fully grasp it. Yet if our lips fail to speak our hearts
desires, your Spirit interprets what is written there, though we are unable to read
it. Read every heart, because we open them to you as a book. Our intent is to do
your will, O God. And we thank you your will is what will be done in spite of our
minds infirmity or our souls reluctance. For this we praise the Lord! Amen.
SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS
Chronological Bible Reading: Ps al m 136- 138; 2 Cori nt hi ans 6
Saturday, August 30
Ps a. 128: 2 For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it
shall be well with thee.
God Who Binds Me with Blessing:
The fear of God is the key to all happiness (oh that Robin Williams
realized this). I have to reverence you before I will be blessed by you. But as a
God-fearing believer I have both right now blessing and .not yet blessing. I
am happy now because I am the child of a happy God, I also have heaped-up
happiness in time to come. I thank you for making me a joint-heir with Jesus.
The fear of God means having a dread to offend him and an anxiety
to please him. It involves me in total submission and complete consecration. It
is the fountain of holiness and the foundation of fulfillment. It is the essence of
being satisfied, not just sustained. Only those who fear will walk in your ways.
If my heart is joined to you, my feet will follow. If I fear you I can ignore
all other fears. By walking in your ways I come under your protection, your
provision, and your approval as I find acceptance in Christ.
Ps a. 128: 5 The LORD shall bless thee out of Zion: and thou shalt see the good of
Jerusalem all the days of thy life.
I need other saints to share my blessings, because that increases them. Bless
my out of Zion so I can live that blessing in community. And then, put the
blessing of your house on my house and household, because I trust in you.
Num. 6: 24- 26 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face
shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and
give thee peace.
Help me bring a blessing to church this Sunday so I can share in the
blessings at church! Then draw to yourself all who fear you as Lord. Amen.

HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH

HOW TO BUILD A BALANCED LIFE

1) TIMEWORSHIP
Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and
departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is
to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily
devotions.

2) TITHEWORK
1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as
God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions
asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come
off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the
firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our
resources.

3) TEAMWORD
Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is;
but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship
with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

QUALITY CHRISTIANITY INVOLVES THREE THINGS
# Keeping Christ at the center (your core relationship of worship to God)
# Keeping the body of Christ a priority (your congregational relationship of
walking with us)
# Basing beliefs and actions on the mind of Christ (your church relationship in
the Word)

PRAYER DIARY

$ INTERCEDE WITH GOD $ INSTRUCT SAINTS
$ PROMPT PETITIONS $ KICKSTART DEVOTION

INSTRUCTIONS:

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because
they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are
no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the
same things over and over.
This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you
might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to
God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you
through the Bible chronologically in a year.
Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then
you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in
the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard
for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying.
Alan

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the
strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus
Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had
prayed.
Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times
and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of
prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the
injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore
there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If
you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus
Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather
than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and
exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be
deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only
spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the
time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition.
God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son.
Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
