1.

Pins are always plated by

Pin
a. Gold
b. Localize gold
c. Rhodium
Or other material resisting corrosion
2. Wire stripping is according to manual there are many kinds of stripping tools (refer to sheet)
3. Dont twist conductor wire before crimping
4. Crimping pin
Selection of crimping tool depend on pin part number, refer to the manual.
If wire gauge is smaller than the pin hole refer to manual (see sheets)
5. Contact identification
Contact part number are identify by BIN (Basic Identification Number) code, which is consists of
series of color bands, each representing a special digit, and read beginning with the widest color
band as the first digit as follow
0= Black 1= Brown 2= Red 3= Orange 4= Yellow
5= Green 6= Blue 7= Violet 8= Gray 9= White
6. Mainly there are two kinds of pins,
- The first one insert front of the socket with special specification to crimp
- The second one inserted in the back of the socket with special specification to crimp
- Some connector has a blue band around its back it is means that rear release
7. Crimp tool has many kinds (refer to sheet and electric tools)
- Select the correct crimping tool and turret position or die locator from the data page
- Trim the dielectric as indicated
- Set the selector dial to the proper setting as shown on the data plate and turret to the color
position indicator
8. Crimp tool calibration (refer to sheet and electric tools)
9. Pin insertion and extraction (practical training)
- Double ended plastic tool- the white end for extraction and the colored one for insertion
10. In case of crimping aluminum wire check the conductor carefully searching for corrosion spot
11. Rubber behind the socket (grommet) very close around the pin to prevent corrosion, some sockets
uses locking material specially the socket between pressure and non pressure area
12. If a pin inside large numbers socket is defect you have to extract some pin around the defect one
to facilitate changing defect pin (if pin is crimped or solder)
13. If pin is pended it can adjust by female pin, pending is limited refer to sheets
14. In the heavy current pin size 14 G. wire is limited in length, so to remove defect pin from wire you
have to cut the pin itself to avoid shortness in wire (refer to sample)
15. Dummy pin fixed back of socket for the unused holes to keep socket clean
16. Fiber optical
a. All pins must inserted in the same time
b. Be carefully for the pin guide when insert pins
c. Checking continuity by spot light & fiber optical tester
17. Retention check (refer to sheet)
