Can Can Can Can you you you you forgive somebody? forgive somebody? forgive somebody? forgive somebody?
Today we hear a story about a man who was given a
gift. But then, he would not give
a gift! And what was that gift? For-
giveness!
The man in the story was a servant
who owed a lot of money. When he
asked his master if maybe he could
forget about what he owed, the master
said okay. He forgave him. He called it
even. But then, this same servant
found somebody who owed him
money. He yelled at him, Pay what
you owe! He even sent him to prison!
Even though his master forgave him, this servant couldnt forgive some-
body else.
Every day, even every hour, God forgives us for the wrong things we do.
He wants us to forgive other people when they do something wrong to us.
Can you do that? Can you think of one person who did something wrong
to you? Can you try to forgive him or her? Can you be like the master in
the story and call it even?

SAINT FANOURIOS
THE LOST AND FOUND SAINT
Did you know there are hundreds and hundreds of saints
that we dont even
know about? Some-
times we find out about
them. Other times, only
God knows about them.
We dont know much
about Saint Fanourios.
In fact, for a long time,
nobody knew anything
about him. But in the
year 1500, some people
found an icon of him in
an old, broken-down church on the island of Rhodes, in Greece.
In the icon, he looks like a young man. He is holding a candle in one
hand.
Lots of people pray to Saint Fanourios. You can especially pray to him
when you have lost something. Then, when the saint answers a prayer, a
person might make a special cake called Fanouropita. You can bring it to
church, the priest will say a special prayer, and you can share it with eve-
rybody else!
We celebrate Saint Fanourios on Wednesday, August 27th.
