Japanese Lessons

You will have 4 Japanese language lessons (9:00-12:25) every day. Each
lesson is 45 minutes long and you can definitely improve your language
skills.

Classes focus more on conversational Japanese so that you can use what
you have learned in everyday life.

We have three levels of classes according to learners language skills:
Beginners class, upper beginners class, and intermediate class.


Note 1: No classes on national holidays (see Class Calendar)
Note 2: An activity class every week

Curriculum and Learning Contents

Beginners
Designed for learners who want to study
daily conversations in Japanese. Including
more time for speaking than any other schools.
Learners can build up vocabulary, and can
speak Japanese using correct grammar.

Also including activities learners can
experience the Japanese culture. Provided
with more chances to communicate with
Japanese people.
Use expressions frequently
used in daily life in Japan.

Write and read all hiragana
and katakana.

Write and read some kanji.

Use the right words in the

Placement tests (oral and written) will be given to the student on the first day of the
program in order to assign the student in the appropriate level of the class.

Fukuoka Zoological Garden
Enjoy watching various kinds of animals and plants here.

Hojoya
One of the three major festivals in Fukuoka. Hojoya is a shrine
ritual to pay respect to everything alive and prohibit killing.

Calligraphy
This is one of the most popular activities at NILS. Many people
have never experienced calligraphy, so you can encounter and
enjoy this Japanese culture. Lets see how well you can learn
calligraphy!

Hakata Area Tour
Hakozaki Shrine and Hakata Machiya Folk Museum. You can try
your hand at weaving Hakaka-ori textiles.

Hakata Dolls
Try decorating Hakata dolls, derived from traditional Japanese
folk crafts. You can also learn the history of Hakata dolls.

Cooking
Lets cook okonomiyaki (Japanese style pizza) together. The
recipe is simple. You will be able to serve your friends delicious
green tea and okonomiyaki.

Uminonakamichi Seaside Park
An extensive leisure park where you can enjoy seasonal flowers.
Cosmos Festival in autumn. There are also many kinds of
attractions in the park, so you will definitely have a great time
here.

Dazaifu Tenmangu Tour
Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine is very famous and popular among
Japanese. Many people visit here to make a wish to god.
Kyushu National Museum is also right next to the shrine. You
will be amazed!

One of the most famous cuisines in Fukuoka is Ramen noodles.
Many people love Ramen noodles! You can cook ramen all by
yourself. Lets taste!

Sumo Wrestling
One of the traditional pro-sports in Japan. You have seen a
sumo wrestler in a movie or a TV program, but why dont you try
to see real sumo wrestling?

Yusen-tei Tour
Enjoy a Japanese traditional garden and experience tea
ceremony sitting on traditional tatami floors. Have you ever
tasted Japanese green tea?
You can also enjoy beautiful red maple leaves in this season.

Yame Traditional Craftwork Center
Make your original handmade Japanese paper crafts. You can
choose one from a fan, a post card, a bookmark, etc.

1. Above fees include school activity fees, textbooks, class materials and
accommodation fees (Leo-palace apartment).
2. Transportation fee to get to the school is JPY400-800 per day (US$4-8).
3. Housing fee: 30 days stay for 4 weeks, 60 days stay for 8 weeks, and 90 days stay for
12 weeks.
