ABSTRACT

This report is intended to give necessary background to understand the process through
which cement is manufactured at SHREE CEMENT LTD . It focuses on the role of
instrumentation in the cement industry and the operation of an instrumentation system.
Although this report only identifies the main components and techniques of a typical
instrumentation system, it is not intended to give an all-inclusive operations of every possible
instrumentation system present in the cement plant. Subsystems and topics include mines,
raw mill, kiln, Preheater, cooler, cement mill, packing plant and the various instruments being
used and also PLC. All the devices whether mechanical, electrical or instrument all are
connected and controlled by the programmable logic controllers (PLC) and for the visual
experience of this SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition system) is used. SCADA
is used to show the current condition of the process and also to keep the record of all the past
data.
The report also includes information on temperature, pressure, flow, and level
detection systems which are used in the cement plant.
