Dear Trainee
1. We are pleased to inform you that you are selected in our above-mentioned
program and also confirm receipt of your application package.
2. The course is conducted by Barter International Maritime Studies (BIMS), and is

scheduled to commence at Bangkok, Thailand as intimated to you by our rep office on 18
Jan 10. You will be required to depart India as briefed by our representative. All
arrangements will be made and advised to you upon the Full payment of the course fee.
3. You are hereby informed to remit the Administration Fee of INR 50,000(Fifty
Thousand INR) in favour of Barter Maritime School Bangkok within five days of receipt of
this letter. This fee can be paid through the credit card on our website www.bmecs.com
under online payment (under construction).
4. Please note that the total fee for the course is INR 3, 50, 000(Three Lakhs Fifty
Thousand INR or equivalent money in USD) which includes the Administration fee. The
full course fee shall be remitted to the school in equivalent USD and be payable to
following before departing from India.

5. The fee can be paid by any of the following means.
a. By telegraphic transfer if taking bank loan.
b. By demand draft in favour of Barter Maritime school.
c. By CITI Bank card

6. The course fee includes following.
a. The course fee for phase 1 and 2
b. Boarding and lodging for three months at BIMS.
c. Uniform and other clothing.
d. Books and handouts.
e. Thai CDC.
f. Four basic courses
g. Tanker familiarisation course
h. Visits
i. Airport pick up and drop
7. The course will be conducted in the two phases
a. Phase 1: 3-month Pre Sea preparation BIMS Thailand.
b. Phase 2: 11 months of sea training arranged by BIMS and there after award
of watch keeping certificate. ( The fee for watch keeping certificate is to paid
separate)
8. The sea training attachment undertaking is placed at Annex H. Please bring this
undertaking on Rs 100 stamp paper duly signed by you and your parent and submit to the
Institute on arrival. After completion of the Phase 2 of this program, BIMS will assist you in
your watch keeping certificate. However, the entire fee and all other expenses for the
watch keeping will be borne by you and are outside the scope of this agreement and the
fee charged by BIMS.

9. Additionally, you are also to read a document titled “Joining Instruction and Code of
conduct” which must be read and understood. This copy is available with our
representative’s office and also at our website. Once you have read and understood you
can sign the attached certificate and have it countersigned by your parents or guardian
and bring along with you to BIMS for submission at school. A copy of this will be returned
to you upon your joining this program.
10. Your visa and the Air ticket will be arranged by the Head office of BIMS at Delhi
and the same shall be sent to you through BIMS Zonal Office / local rep. Once you arrive
at Suvarnabhum Airport at Bangkok you shall proceed to meeting place 3 at arrival and
look for the BIMS representative holding card which will have BIMS written. Once
you meet him then he or she shall bring you to BIMS. In case you do not find any
BIMS representative then do not leave airport but ring to BIMS office on 027078616 or
Mrs Chanita who in turn shall guide you.
11. In worst case if you have to come to the Institute on your own, please proceed to
gate no 1 at arrival and look for public taxi booth, DO NOT TAKE TAXI FROM ANY
WHERE ELSE. Once you reach the counter ask for SERI CENTER. The counter shall
give you the receipt you do not pay any money at counter. Show the map attached at
annex G to the taxi driver and he shall get you to the Institute. Even you can guide him
through the map once you reach Seri Center. The total money by meter shall be around
125 – 145 TBH and you have to add 50 TBH as airport surcharge.
12. No student shall be granted ticket and visa if he has not paid the full fee before
departure. In exceptional cases the student shall be allowed to come to Thailand but he
must have paid more than 50% of the fee. On arrival the student has to complete his fee
payment by the end of the first month. If he fails to clear the fee he shall be send back if
no refund of fee. Once the student arrives at the Institute and desires to return back within
7 days of arrival than 30% of his total fee shall be charged and rest fee shall be return. If
he overstays beyond 7 days and returns back within one month then only 25% of the fee
shall be return. Beyond that no fee shall be refunded. If the student is send back due to
academic or disciplinary grounds no fee shall be refunded. In all cases he has to pay his
airfare and visa charges.
13. Once your son is in the academy you can contact him by telephone. The contact
details are as follows and also the time to call is between 1900 to 2100 hrs Thailand times
(1hr 30 min behind India time. 1900 in Thailand is 1730 in India).

Joining Instructions and the Code of Conduct
1. It is to certify that I have read the joining Instructions as well as code of conduct
and understood al the procedures and the regulations thoroughly.
2. I am also are aware of all the issues pertaining to the discipline at the academy and
the consequences of, in case I am found involved in any disciplinary case during my stay
in BIMS.

Annex E
Sea Training Attachment Undertaking
I cadet/rating ____________ who have passed out from BIMS Thailand accept and agree following for my sea training
attachment for 18 months for cadets and 9+-1 months for ratings.
I understand that a per IMO requirement the sea training requirement is to serve onboard a Foreign going ship with more than
500 Ton GRT and above for deck cadet with sea time of 18 months and to be onboard Merchant ship for GP rating, BIMS thus
shall provide the same to ensure that the required sea training and time is available to me to complete my sea time
requirement. I understand that I have no say on choosing company or ship.
I understand that the sea training attachment will be PROVIDED ONLY ONCE BY BIMS THROUGH ITS PARTNERS FOR THE ABOVE
PERIOD. If I for any reason sign off or refuse to the sea training offer or refuse to join the allotted ship or if I break contract
and sign off before the sea time finishes then BIMS shall not be responsible for any further sea training attachment for me and
I indemnify BIMS from all the liabilities. BIMS shall consider case to case basis to provide ME additional sea time only in case

I will be paid monthly stipend based on the company policies which may vary from min 200 USD to 400 USD for cadets and Min
150 USD to 350 USD for the ratings. BIMS has no control on the stipend paid to me and this is only the information to me.
I also understand that as a cadet/rating I am the junior most mariners onboard and shall undertake any task assigned to me
without any hesitation. If I break the contract due to any reasons whatsoever after joining or fails to join as per scheduled or
found, misfit and improper for the rank, or become medically unfit then I will bear all the cost of air ticket and I will be fully
responsible for the same with no liability to BIMS or agent and no further sea training attachment will be provided.
I will abide by all the rule and regulation of the company and will perform all the duties assigned to me. In case of any
misconduct from my side, company /ships owner has right to terminate me and I will bear all the expenses the air
tickets for signing on and sign off, and no agent will be held responsible for any of my loss. No further sea training attachment
shall be provided.
I myself will be responsible for contacting my parents regularly after joining on duty and no Agent will be responsible for that.
My parents or relatives will not contact agent or BIMS for this reason. . I shall adjust with the food provided to me based on the
company policies.

I will be fully aware of the rules and regulations of the company, and my salary and other bonus will be given by ship owners /
company directly, and I will be responsible for clearing all salary Dues from the company directly when I sign off and no agent
or BIMS will be held responsible for any of pending salary or dues from the company.
In case I fell sick or become medically unfit due to illness or any accident or I loose my life due to any circumstances during
the sea training attachment BIMS or the agents are not responsible for any liabilities and I indemnify them. No further sea
training attachment shall be provided.
I will not discuss any matter to any of my superior / friend, which I agreed with my agent who selected me.
I have read, understood and agree unreservedly to comply with the above.
