Body Atlas in the Womb

Fertilize human egg cell is hardly enough to see. The next 9 months it will divide
millions of times, changing dramatically in size and shape within the mothers womb,
and it gradually takes a human form.

Living creatures of all kinds need 2 parents from genes, offspring inherit and
enormous range in looks and personality traits. The first child gives parents the idea of
how their later children will turn out.

A woman has their eggs on the 2 ovary. The egg cell is the only cell visible to the
human eye. The egg cell need only 1 from the millions of sperm cells swarming around
it and itll fertilize it.

A day and a half after fertilization the egg divide into 2 cells. During the week it
takes to travel down the fallopian tube this cell divide again and again. When the
spongy lining thicken the cell burrow in taking nutrients from the mother and the egg
starts to grow. A flood of chemical messages release instructing the cell to become the
part of the body that it should become. From the dividing of the cell called mitosis. The
cell starts to take shape. In less than a month the cell becomes an embryo consisting of
head on the other end a tail. As the cell division still occurring inside the mothers
womb, some cell becomes the brain, and other parts of the internal organs. As early as
the 3
rd
week, a tiny heart starts to beat and blood begins to flow. After a month, child
has a beating heart and a developing brain, eyes, spinal cord, lungs stomach, kidneys,
and intestines. The urine carries the message when checking using the pregnancy test.
5 weeks old in the size a pea, the mothers child is attach to the membrane by the
beginning of the umbilical cord. A few days later the head is now 1/3 of the babys total
volume. The retina of the eye starts to form. The eyes are widely open because there is
no eyelids to cover them. The hands looks like a paddle and a cartilage protects them.
At six weeks, the fingers and toes are still webbed but theyre growing fast. At seven
weeks, the ultra sound can reveal the babys first movement and the unique face is
beginning to emerge. The end of the 8
th
week the embryo now looks like a human
being and bones starts to grow to become a fetus. At 9 weeks the fetus head is now
half of its length. The baby floats in a fluid filled sac inside the mothers womb. The
blood vessels show up easily through the thin tissue of the skin but the babys brain still
dont show the signs of real consciousness. After the 14
th
week, the babys body finally
catches up with the growth of its head. Its legs are now longer than its arms. The baby
usually do thumb sucking inside the mothers womb. The thumb sucking, practice
sucking and breathing for later life. Some facts about the baby thumb sucking,
determines whether the baby is left or right handed. Depending on which thumb the
baby is sucking. At 16 weeks the baby completely fills out the womb. The mothers belly
now grow bigger because of the size and weight of the baby increasing gradually during
the pregnancy. A routine ultra sound at 20 weeks confirms that the baby is developing
normally and to know the gender. The umbilical cord gives nutrients, oxygen, and takes
away the waste of the baby. The babys heart pumps 2x faster than the mothers heart
but it is normal. Some baby that came out of the womb with scratches. The nails of the
baby scratches the skin because of the space inside of the womb. But there are some
protections. At the 13
th
week a hair starts to grow and later a sticky white secretion
covering the whole body of the baby and it is held by the hair. It protects the babys
skin from the corrosives inside the mothers womb. At the 9
th
month, the baby is now
ready to come out of the womb. The healthy color of a new born baby is pink, and if
the baby is blue it suffers the lack of oxygen but everythings going to be alright.
