DAVID

Accepting that bad things happen

David is learning to cope with guilt after his children were injured in a car he was
driving

David says that he blames himself for ruining his previously happy family. He sleeps
badly, feels tired, spends much of his time watching TV, resting and drinking. He has
persistent headaches and lacks the confidence to return to work or seek out old
friendships. Four months after the accident David’s general practitioner asked him to
complete the K10 questionnaire. His score of 35 puts him well above the score of 24
for mild mental health problems. The GP suggested he commence treatment for
depression and problem drinking.
