Summers wind-

ing down as we
come to our last
big Labor Day
weekend with
plenty of activities
scheduled. Dont
give up on sum-
mer yet because I
am predicting a
beautiful Septem-
ber and October.
Season memories
started with my
PCYC golf four-
some moving up
one notch from
the previous
years last place
finish. I really en-
joyed meeting our
new members at
the New Mem-
bers Welcome. A
few of you have
not picked up
your package at
the Ships Store
yet (the item I for-
got to order on
time). A cool June
disappeared in a
blur with our en-
joyable Saturday
morning BMSs on
the PCYC river-
front deck. Most
of July was spent
recovering from
my hiking trip
with my daughter
and I think the
Carbs from the
famous Baileys
Tuscany Spaghet-
ti Dinner helped
or maybe it was
the wine. The
Flag Officers en-
joyed the Junior
Sailor Awards at
Put in Bay and
the club was rec-
ognized by I-LYA
for running a fine
regatta for the
Corsair Nationals
Race at Put in
Bay. Then there
was August with
the Tent Party
and a very enter-
taining Concert
on the Deck. Once
again John Folger
proved his superi-
ority on the rifle
range at the Na-
tional Rifle
Matches at Camp
Perry. We had a
nice wind and
great weather for
the Commodores
Cup race. I tried
my hand at writ-
ing NORs, SIs,
and race manage-
ment with various
degrees of success.
Lets say it was a
learning experi-
ence. I learned to
put hearing pro-
tection on when
firing the cannon
(be it a little late-
what did you say
Dave?) and also
learned sailors
cant catch perch.
Enjoy Septem-
bers scheduled
PCYC events,
football, and if
you get a chance

know that Jona-
thon Waters would
make a fantastic
band director for
the Ohio State
University March-
ing Band. Also in
September there
will be occasional
pool hours depend-
ent on weather
and life guard
availability. The
high school pool
staff is done on
Labor Day and we
only had one
PCYC adult volun-
teer to become life-
guard certified
this spring. She
will open the pool
when possible.

Our club and grounds con-
tinue to be used heavily by
our members especially on
weekends. When issues in-
volving the house and
grounds need attention,
please let us know. Our job
to fix or repair any item
that breaks, squeaks, or
just plain wears out. We
appreciate your input.

We need your help in some
housekeeping issues in the
marina and dry sail areas.
We do police these areas of-
ten. Please keep items
cleaned up such as fishing
poles, coolers, etc., other-
wise you might find them
missing when we have to
pick up after you. Also pic-
nic tables are not to have a
permanently attached co-
vers. This causes mainte-
nance issues and problems
for the crews that move
them around in the spring
and fall.
The new pump out trailer is
working well as Denny
Snyder will testify that his
boat is much lighter now
that we have one. With
member input we are now
only pumping with a re-
quest to our caretaker Eric.
Please text or call him if
you need a pump out.

Several projects have
been completed this past
month. Dock one has a
new pedestal installed to
accommodate boats out on
the end of the dock. We
completed 10 new picnic ta-
bles for our members use. I
would like to thank Bob
Mosser, PC Geoff Bailey
and John Folger for their
help on assembling the ta-
bles.
One other item of concern is
that our commodore Mike
has had to clean out the
martin houses. We are
looking for volunteers for
this next year as Mike is
retiring from this position.

As I say This your club,
Use it and have Fun.

Boaters be prepared for our usual 5 to 6 foot water
level changes with long lines and be prepared to protect
your props and rudders. In other words if you are backed
in look out.

on Friday night. An agen-
da will be sent out in the
next week or so. This is
always a great weekend. If
you have not already
signed up, please
do. Hopefully everyone
has a safe and enjoyable
Labor Day Weekend.

Happy boating,

The Power Fleet has had a
busy month. We finished
July with a Cruise-Out to
Grosse Pointe. There were
a total of thirteen boats
that made the trip
North. We even had a few
that met us on their way
back down the river. A
good time was had by
all. We have just come off
of a great weekend at
Kelly's Island. There were
fifteen boats that made the
trip to Portside Marina. A
special thanks goes out to
Todd and Bobbi Bickley as
they welcomed us to their
home for the Saturday
morning Bloody Mary Par-
ty. A select few of us also
completed the Ice Bucket
Challenge as set forth by
Todd. I am sure there is a
video somewhere.

Our last Cruise-Out of the
year will be September
19th, 20th and 21st to the
Miller Dock on PIB. We are

Green Island Race
PCYC will be hosting the Green Island Race over this upcoming Labor Day Weekend. Beginning Saturday
Aug. 30th, sailboats will be arriving via feeder races from various yacht clubs that hail from Detroit to Ver-
million. Sunday Aug. 31st is the official Green Island Race. The Green Island Race is one of the largest
and most successful regattas held in the western basin. Bring your family and friends and join us in cele-
brating this great tradition. Grab a pitcher of Brandy Alexander and enjoy the live music and great food
that will be offered over this special 3 day weekend.
Sail Fleet Meeting
Sunday Sept. 7
th
at 7pm. We will be discussing all things sailing. Recapping the 2014 season and prepping
for 2015. We will be voting on the following Sail Fleet positions; Sail Fleet Captain, Treasurer, Secretary,
Auxiliary Chair, Race Team Chair and Learn to Sail Chair. If you are out of town and are interested in any
of the positions please let me know. ramon@cros.net
